When they are bringin it so hard you don't remember what song it is...i think its called universal vibration!!
2. Ghost
3. Harry Hood
4. Tweezer
5. Piper
Just missed the cut (but a sentimental favorite): The Lizards.
Loving the diversity of responses in this (old) thread.
This is so tough, but my personal favorites have gotta be Sand, Wolfman's, NICU, Gumbo, Cavern, Stash, Moma Dance (no particular order). As far as live jams go, I'm gonna go with Tweezer, Mike's Groove, Antelope, Bowie, Reba, Divided Sky. Anyone else notice that Ocelot is becoming a killer jam as of 2012??
This is an impossible question. But I really enjoy The Squirming Coil, YEM, and The Divided Sky. But Im a fan of Phish. If your looking from the outside In, Bouncing around The Room and Joy are great works of more standard musical songwriting. But hey you can't go wrong with almost any song IMHO!
OH AND REBA! ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT REBA hahaha.
Slave, Fluff, YEM, Divided Sky. No way could I ever narrow down a favorite, all of these are pure bliss. And Curtain With
So hard to chooose!
If I try to think of this "objectively" I'd have to go with Fluffhead.
All of Junta, and most of Lawn Boy, are crucial.
Any conversation should at least include Antelope, Slave, YEM, Bowie, Mike's> Hydrogen> Groove, Hood and Harpua. Probably Divided Sky, Curtain, Reba and Tweezer too. Maybe even Gin, Suzy, Stash, Makisupa and Runaway Jim.
I tend to favor Sloth, Brother, Halley's Comet, Possum, Ya Mar, Foam, Melt, Sanity, Dog Log and BBFCFM. And anything Gamehendge.

the correct answer is Antelope. End thread
I think the band would say YEM and I think I would agree
Tube has always blown my mind in the funk departmentIndeeed sir, me as well.
Also the line "Robert Palmer is implored to dance, to dance, to dance" gets me every time=) Can't get enough of it honestly.
Wow surprised nobody mentioned Rift or my personal favorite Fly Famous Mockingbird!
Glorious composition - everyone shines, tension and release, silly. Everything Phish is.
Mine is either Tweezer or the always appreciated Mike's Song < Simple < Weekapaug Groove but this not one song. Too hard to pick because they are always changing for me. I have favorite phish song moods.
The Curtain With
Divided Sky
YEM
Reba
Hood
Billy Breathes
Fluffhead
Guyute
DWD
Esther
Honorable mention:
The Lizards
Mike's Song
Slave
Tube
Coil
All of these songs (and more) rotate through my favorite / best Phish song list. Impossible to choose one, it is.
I feel pretty fortunate to have seen all of my faves live although I'm chasing an electric Curtain With.
how isthere no love for gumbo?!?!
You enjoy myself, Divided sky, Fluffhead and Reba.
Melt, Piper, Twist, 2001, Seven Below, Mike's sometimes
Chalkdust Reprise/ whatever you wanna call the Moby Dick night at Deer Creek
1. The Curtain With
2. You Enjoy Myself
3. Reba
4. Harry Hood
5. Slave to the Traffic Light
i personally think all five of those songs define Phish very well.
I'l just take peace in knowing that Reba basically stole the "With" jam (after the rift part leading in) and still say that The Curtain With is the biggest titties on this planet and that everything else any other band has ever done ever sounds like 2 fat white guys with small dicks having buttsex on top of a pile of ferrel, rotting, and agonizingly moaning to their death hyenas. And that buttfucking animal death sound is ridiculously auto-tuned.
