I started a thread about this at the end of the summer. Just wanted to remind everyone that I am on a quest to restart the tradition of handing out UNO cards at shows.
If you are either new to the scene or have been around but have no idea about the UNO cards look it up. You can find info about the cards and the story behind their arrival to the Phish scene.
Put simply, people put a creative spin on Uno cards, label them with their name, date and place of show, then hand them out during shows. After the show you put your name and date of the show on the back of the card(s) you received. Then you either keep it as a memento or you add something creative to it and pass it along...then that person puts their name and show date on the card...and so on and so on.
I had forgotten all about the cards til someone handed me one at the Hartford show. It made me so happy. I went home and dug out all my saved cards and they brought back memories that I had long forgotten.
Please start making the cards now...it would be fantastic if everyone was trading them during the fall tour. I am trying to get tix for all 3 CO shows, RI, and both MA shows. I'll have mine ready...will you have yours?
I'll update you if I get any at the concerts! It is the fellowship that Phish fans have which sets us apart from audiences at other concerts!

I'm on board, let's get that going again. AS a personal touch I'm going to hand out the Red Sox ones my late wife got for me. She was such a positive person and I can't think of anything better than to hand out her vibe.

Glad to know that people got on board for Jones Beach....people promised during my last Uno thread....I couldn't be there but it makes me so happy!

As a die hard Red Sox fan I think this is an awesome idea. What an honor to your wife...I got chills and teared up! As a suggestion you might want to put something on them that says something about why you are handing them out....would hate for those who are not Red Sox fans....and we know that there are some who all but hate them.....to throw them away of something. I hope we end up at one of the same shows and I get one....or maybe I'll get one down the line as people pass them on! Sorry for your loss!

At JB I was given 2 Uno cards... and gave one to a friend, and kept the other one (the one I kept is laminated and has a picture of MIA on it). This sounds like a fun tradition to perpetuate :-)

That's a girl! I just wrote a post about this 30min ago and then my computer disconnected......we must be on the same brain wave.....
Yup know is the time....start making them! I've got mine in the works! I will do back flips if this thing gets up and running again.....One of the best ways to do this is to keep this post active.....

I've put my kids to work on them too.....Uno cards are now taking over our daily project time....and they love it....so if you get any spongebob ones with stickers all over them (ie pincess, car, mickey mouse, etc) chances are they are from my kids!

Whoa, mpike, that's cool! I knew I had seen this thread a while back but I had to dig for it. 
As far as decoration, I was thinking maybe putting a little palm tree or something SC-ish for the Charleston show, maybe a little ghosty or something for Halloween. I will be on the lookout for Spongebob and friends. And wait, are folks putting their real name or their phish.net handle on them?

guess i'll have to shop around for some of these for mentioned "Cool" uno cards...caues the ones we recently purchased ,,were weird ,,,a new style i guess ...now with arrow signs and the wild cards are not as cool as they used to be......... maybe its me...

Firstly, we will not turn our noses down on your uno cards castinajig lol! Any Uno card is a cool uno card!
I personally was going to put my real name on it....but putting your phish.net name would be fine too...I figure with all the info we put out on facebook and sites like these there would be no reason to put a "fake" name on the cards....but then again I'm pretty much an open book!

i didnt get broomfield tix, so no uno cards from me.... unless i make them for the mike gordon show at the troubadour in los angeles november 6th. hmmmm....yup, thats what im gonna do alright.

I handed out some Uno cards in Chucktown, but most people were like, "whaaaaa..." even after I explained the tradition. :/

Yeah I got a couple of "huh?" too.....but I also heard at least 3x as I was walking away...."Uno cards....dude I thought these things disappeared a long time ago..." then that person explained to his/her buddies about the cards....
Plus.....and this was huge for me....I handed one card out and the guy asked me how I came into the "Uno family" I told my story and then he told me that he was friends with the guys from UPENN that started the whole thing.....it was a complete circle....I gave him the card I had been saving.....I found a blank card in the pack....that's not normal there are no blank cards in any other packs that I have ever found....so I wrote inside the blank circle......"Got a blank space where my mind should be..." what else would I write ;p......

I used to stick an Uno card in every package of tapes I mailed out. It was always a green 8, because green is my fav color and 8 is my fav number.

I think you gotta get them to some older looking guys (30's-40's) they are the vets.As someone you would refer to as one of the "older guys (girls)" of course we get it....but we want the youngsters to get it too.....ya know there is nothing as wonderful as making someone else smile! So if you get a card smile!
I find that those who are desperately looking for tickets in the lot are very open to the UNO cards. I usually give one to people looking for tix (of course I weed out those who look like they are going to re-sell them!) I tell them "here's half a miracle....hopefully it'll bring you some luck in finding the other half"......they usually are really happy!

UNO came full circle our last night of the tour got one of our Broomfield ones from a random guy in Amherst....7 shows and we got one back already that's an awesome %.....as an aside we handed 13 cards out to people who were looking for tickets an hr or less before showtime 7 of those people got tix that I know of.....I'm telling you all there's power in the UNO card! Happy Halloween

Drive safe you all and remember the crazy the trip to get to the show generally the crazier the show is! Plus we all know for sure that the boys love snow....they're Vermonters and if you were to take the wind out of this storm it would just be another day, schools open, no delays for the folks in VT.

As we all start planning for the summer tour (and hopefully a fest too) I just wanted to send a friendly reminder to everyone about getting UNO Cards ready for the tour!
Hooray! It's that time of year again......thanks PHISH for giving us another summer filled with joy! We are all truly grateful for the work you guys put in as individuals and as a group to make this all possible! We are also grateful for the continued support you get from your families!
Anyone who doesn't understand the great balancing act that touring requires probably hasn't spent much time thinking about it. We may be solely focused on the four performing members for 3+ hrs while they are on stage but there is so much more that goes into touring. I have no idea how many people it actually takes to put something like this together but I do know that our praise and gratitude needs to include each and everyone of them along with their families! Bless you all for the blood, sweat, and tears you have shed to bring the rest of us so much happiness.
I am speaking for myself here but I would imagine that many .netters agree....one of the only places and times in my life where I feel completely myself and thus completely free is during a show! Thank you for that!

I got 4 Retro packs I'm gonna give out this summer. I'm on board this uno card game. I found some uno cards in the c staircase at msg on nye and it definitely made me smile. I keep them in my wallet so I can look at them and remember ...

My first card sliced my right eyelid open, someone chucked in my face as I was driving out of the lot at MPP in 2009. I keep it in my wallet. It has a chunk bitten out of it because my friend thought it might be acid.

I went to the run at the creek in 2000 with my girl and my best friend and the cards were there. I remember a yellow card that was numbered 57 or some off the wall number and everyone around us was laughing about that card and how funny it was. At the end of the show when I met up with my friend, he was like " Did you see me down front? I had a giant yellow 57 uno card." Trey got a kick out of it too if I remember correctly.
