"Need to do the same, its going to spoil all the fun till the tour starts!!"
This will give me three weeks to cleanse my palette, and 5 days to start listening again, to get pumped up for AC.
The first three albums I downloaded for this adventure were
David Bowie - Station to Station
Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest
Abe Vigoda - Skeletons
great idea.
as soon as my ipod decides to charge again it will be alot easier...maybe..
i am going on a phish diet, at least i feel that is a realistic goal for me!
good luck peoples!!
Maybe throw in some really mundane stuff on a mix tape - featuring the Eagles, Kenny G, and Air Supply. It will be like wearing a blindfold for a few days and then taking it off to feast your eyes on the Grand Canyon.
I was thinking the same thing, I should listen to every 100 albums they thought would be in the running for haloween just in case. LAst thing i want is for them to bust out a real gem and me to be holding my dick in my hands cause I dont know what it is...If that's your plan, I hope our seats are not next to each other
I just don't think I have the mental strength to *not* allow my hand to throw a disc in.
*slams money on the counter..."I'm out!!"*...Seinfeld anyone?
best i can hope for is a 'phish diet'...
But shuffle is what kills me. When I listen to music at home I am shufflin' almost 100% of the time. So a phish track may sneak in there.

i NEVER hear phish on the radio. NEVER. even when people tell me they heard a tune. I NEVER HEAR PHISH ON THE RADIO.(last time was probably heavy things..that was like 99.)
then i make a phishnet bet and announce my fast(its been at least 10 days) and im laying back in my car yesterday, half-snoozing between jobs, and a local station (92.9/96.9) plays down with disease. what a mindf***. there is nothing i can say or do apparently to make it stop. to be perfectly honest, i wasn't even conscious of having listened to phish until i saw another this fasting post just now. amazing. then it dawned on me that it had really happened. wonder what else i glide by in a day.. but, really.. hows about that for a tricky little universe. slipped it right by me. it was a drive-by fruiting!! a phish radio ninja attack!
so ivy light, i owe you a beer too. with the exeption of the above-mentioned guerilla airwave sneakattack, i have stayed the path straight, though i cant help feeling like i want to make up for the studio DwD(one of their flatest recordings ever imo)for something live, crisp, sparkly and delicious. i have to go eat chocolate now and take a puff or two. this is getting ridiculous.

Hearing Phish on the radio is one in a million but imagine my surprise when, this past summer, I heard NICU in an elevator. It was almost scandalous it was so shocking! This was just after going to my first show. I thought I was hallucinating. I had to stay in the elevator until everyone else got off to convince myself that it wasn't someone's ringtone or something.
Bummer that it had to be Down with Disease. I'm with you in thinking that the studio version is lukewarm. Congratulations for going as long as you did, though. In my 20/20 hindsight, I can see that it was probably foolish of me to think I'd be able to go longer than a week. I'll still probably go a little while right before the 10/31 show. I'm going to try to not make it my roadtrip music on the way to AC.
Good luck to everyone here attempting a fast! Keep your eyes on the prize. It's WAY harder than it sounds
And just to whet your appetite even further, a question: What will you break your fast with? Or if you're breaking it at a show, what would you like to have your fast broken with?

....Imagine if you were on a food fast, and some yahoo threw a banana cream pie at your face and some of it accidentally got in your mouth -- that would be weird and unlikely, but also definitely not your decision. Same thing. So I'm about to burn one last mixed Phish CD for a friend that's going to her first show with me in Chucktown... wish me luck! I'm just gonna have to turn the volume off and not test the CD.
Listened to the whole Brooklyn show while dozing in and out of sleep.
I thought Phish might help the immense back pain I have been feeling. No such luck.
This is brutal.
I've had CDT, KDF, Tweezer, Vultures, Fluffhead, David Bowie, Gotta Jiboo and a myriad of other Phish jams stuck in my head. For days.
I may run out of music.
I think Primus may hold me over. Sunday come faster!
That is awful. Nothing but Phish. Really? I'd kill myself in the head if I never listened to other music.
This is amazingly difficult. I slipped up the first day and second day, but I haven't listened since 10/02. It's so brutal because I just got one of my friends into Phish and she won't stop texting me with, "xxxxxxx is an amazing song!" and such every 30 minutes. But it can be done if you stick to it! I only have a week or so left until Charleston.I could have written this comment myself! Slipped up once on day 2. In my case, I'm taking the friend to Charleston with me. I think the day of the concert, I'm gonna start listening again, because I'll hear it in the lot once I get there anyway. Maybe I'll wake up early, heh.
How long are you guys doing this for? My first shows are UMass 10/23.
Wait does it count if i've noodled some out on my guitar?
i always try to do that i never last that long
