At 18 I had a "born again" experience that is still meaningful to me today. In college, that hard-core Christianity faded in favor of other life experiences, including being a Deadhead. Occasionally, waiting for a show, a proselytizer will come down the line, spreading his or her Christian faith. My standard line to them is, "At one point I believed in Jesus. Later I believed in LSD. Now I believe in both." If that doesn't get them to move on, they usually say they'll pray for me. I ask if we can pray together, asking God to forgive both of us for our sins. Somehow, I've never had anybody take me up on that offer. Too bad. These folks need Redemption.

I always hate it when people categorize you by the music you listen to. I listen to Phish and The Grateful Dead and I'm not a radical hippie living in a commune dropping acid all day. I also listen to to hip-hop as well, doesn't mean I'm going to join a gang and start selling drugs. I just don't get why we can't listen to the music for what it is and enjoy it and not always being stereotyped by society.
