I saw them be................fuck it.
I was front row at Augusta and saw Trey get hit twice with glow sticks. The first time he was in the middle of a solo and got hit right on his chest. He had this sad look on his face and lost his concentration for a few seconds before looking a little pissed and then getting back into it. The second time he got hit in on the left leg and it totally spooked him. Later in the night one came real close to Page but I don't think it was a direct hit. I felt really bad that people would do that. It takes alot of concentration and to have a hunk of plastic being thrown at you while you are trying to focus can't be fun. I can only imagine that people are so wasted that they either don't realize they are throwing them that far or it's some warped offering to their guru or something. Either way I thought it was really disappointing. If I see anyone doing that intentionally I think the least I would do is let them know it's not cool. I'm a pretty peaceful person so I probably will not PUNCH YOU IN THE EYE
Really think we have beaten this issue to death.
I too hate seeing the band pelted with glowsticks (or anything for that matter). In Providece I saw all of them hit numerous times. People were clearly throwing them with that intent. This is wrong on so many levels. It is up to us to kindly inform those around us throwing things at the stage that it's not the way we do things. I am not opposed to glowsticks when they enhance the experience during Hood, but the constant chucking and collecting of them has become an unwanted distraction I think we should replace the glowsticks with the streamers. They looked pretty cool to me and you can't really hit anyone with them.
I was really digging confetti and streamers. Not sure how anyone could be opposed to that
Most everyone here GETS IT. It is up to us to do something fast. I wish I could make it out to the East Coast to help organize something this fall and/or NYE run - but come next summer if this shits still going on ...I will do it.
Glow sticks suck! Gate crashers suck! - its all negative vibes, and I know the boys feel it.
Granted, I wasn't on the floor, but I did have a very good view of the stage because the venue is very small; I was in very sweet arena seats about six rows above the floor.
I wasn't at Charleston, so I take the reports at the word that some people did throw glowsticks at the stage, but I'm wondering if people talking about Utica being a problem are just "piling on" yet another glowstick thread. I didn't see glowsticks being any big "problem" at Utica, but YMMV.
But I think people are being naive to think any of us can control it. even if we pass out flyers the people throwing at stage are typically spun out of their mind so probably wouldn't remember or.care about a flyer.
I also think we are being too sensitive about it. Sure it is disrespectful, but if the band really cared they would put a ban on the things. they are grown men, and I'm sure have experienced worse things in their lives.
all I'm saying is none of us should let the occasional glowstick that ends up on stage ruin our night or even the thirty seconds when we see it happen at a show. it is beyond our control and it is unhealthy to worry and get upset about things that we cannot control
That's where I'm coming from. Glowticks getting thrown "at" the band is one thing. Glowsticks that land on stage, like balloons or beach balls...no big deal or sign of "disrespect". My 0.02,
can we all just shut the fuck up about glowsticks
can we all just shut the fuck up about glowsticksWishful thinking man, best advice is to not read threads you don't like. Not sure you can control what others talk about. I too think this issue has been beaten to the ground, but also enjoy throwing my 2 cents on this subject because I like participating in as many discussions as possible.

Glowsticks and the people that bring them are lame. Honestly, they add ZERO value to a Phish show. In fact, they're more likely to ruin a show for someone than anything.wow that's not a huge generalization or anything... I know a lot of people that brought glowsticks to shows, along with value. now that value was not.the glowsticks but it was there friendly and enjoyable personality that I enjoyed being around.
Yes, this topic has been beaten to death. Yes, we are all sick of them (supposedly). I find it humorous though that the same people that gave me all sorts of grief for mentioning this in the early planning stages of the Charleston "War" are now preaching the same things that I got ostracized for. Oh, the irony.
The bottom line is, good intentions or not, if these toys are brought into the shows, they WILL and always DO find their way onto the stage. And more often than anybody would like to admit, they even hit the band. I am not preaching right/wrong or laying down rules or trying to act "holier than thou,'' or anything of the sort. I would just like to think that we have all realized the disruption these children's toys cause to the boys and concert-goers alike.
That said, see you guys in AC!
