Worcester ticket drop.

joechip Permalink
joechip I just picked up four seats for Worcester night 2 at ticketmaster, good lowers. (Sec 124 row kk) I'd been checking and previously they were offering only behind the stage tickets, so if anyone's still trying, now might be the time.

If you do get your floors, I have a couple of friends who are in need. They're coming back from Africa soon and I told them if I could find something I would help them out. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe not for free, but for very cheap. I am just not the kind of guy who likes to wait until last minute. Especially if I am driving 8 hours to go to the shows, I want to have my tickets in that case. But, a) they are not sold out b)there are extras around if you look (I am just holding out for floors) c)there are a decent amount on stubhub

All good signs that the lot should have some good deals there. But again I am not really an expert on this sort of thing

Manchester wasn't sold out and I didn't really see a ton of extras around, I wasn't really looking though.

why do people want floors or to be up front so bad...I don't get it. I'd much rather be lower lever than down there, a chair to put a jacket on, a place to sit during setbreak, not having to guard your spot the whole time from people trying to push through. To each their own I guess, have fun down there, if I ever get floor tix I'm the first in line to trade them for seats.

johnnyd If you're not right up front on the rail the crowd is not that bad. Especially the way venues have been taking extra measures to limit the stubbing down etc. I strongly prefer to not be constrained to a row of seats and locked into a spot. You can be with your crew in a cluster, rather than a row. If you want some space the back of the floor is generally pretty open. Plus I havent had really good seats since the mid 90s, i'd like to feel the feeling I forgot.

Phish1 I've been on the rail a ton of times... A few folks back a bunch of times... In the floor middle... Floor back...and seats. By far my favorite *now* is floor back. Room to move, dance, whatever. Plus, room to sit if you need. Up in the seats, I always have this little nag in the back of my head, wondering and worrying if I'm blocking someones view. I was back floor in Augusta, and was great. Tons of room, plus could watch CK5 do his thing.

Phish1 Note: I've had six ACL/MCL replacements because of snowboarding "incidents", so that's why I can't do the rail anymore. I will say that if someone hasn't done it, it needs to be done at least once.

Wear a nametag bro! So I'll know who it is I'm beating on when the spill their beer on me.

Good idea to keep looking for floors...it is the way if you've got a posse. Floors on fall tour were a real pleasant experience for me, but I don't try to get up front. And I'm tall enough to see from the soundboard. As you said, these good seats should be able to get face back if they do drop the floors eventually.

johnnyd My "ideal" spot is like 5 rows in front of the soundboard. I love back of floor too, for the exact reasons Phish1 says.

@Phish1 - Do you still ride or are you "retired"?
@joechip - Will do. Even if I do get the GAs maybe I'll come up and say hi!

Ha Ha time to start planning! This is bonus Phish for me - middle of a work week, I was resigned to not hitting any of this run.

Honestly, it is just better. You need to give it a try. You can always grab a chair.

I sat in the first 15 rows at Proidencs and i said to myself....."Wow, this is how you are suppose to see Phish. Looking up at them, not down." Most of the shows that I've seen in the early years were on the floor, right up front.

Also sound travels slower than light so when you are up front you hear the songs before everyone else.

Finally, never bring in a jacket. It only slows you down.

Phish1 @Johnnyd.. I ride on occasion, but not nearly as much. Knees just can't take it anymore. Back in the day, I was sponsored by Nitro Snowboards. This was 94-96ish. Wasn't anything that much...free rides and entrance fee payment for comps (halfpipe). Coolest thing was a lifetime pass to most North American ski joints. Got out because I was missing too much class.

Long story short..not as much, but I still love it! Can't believe the stuff people are pulling off nowadays, both freestyle and in the pipe.

(name drop time: I used to, and still on occasion ride with Seth Wescott! His mom was my drama/theater prof in college, and we met and got to be friends through her.. :)

I've been on the floor 5 or 6 times, been up front before and was not a fan at all. If you want to go grab a drink or bathroom you can't. You'll lose your spot and miss a ton fighting through the crowd to do that. Being next to the soundboard was my fav. spot, but still prefer the seats. Either way, it's all good though. And I'm fairly short, so I can't see a thing on the back of the floor sometimes.

And a jacket is a good thing in worcester at the end of december, much rather be slowed down alittle than sick for a week!! enjoy worcester, I'll be there if I can't get rid of my tickets

When I first found out about the site I was really excited. When I started reading posts I got really depressed. A part of me says "Well, why not? They'll never know if they don't try." Another part of me says "OK, enough is enough. You know no one is going to magically sell you 4 NYE tickets on the floor at face." I've found I only go there if I have something both specific and reasonable.

All that said, I locked up a trade there yesterday. But I went there with a specific plan and asked for something reasonable. Found another person who was looking for exactly what I had and it worked out great. Successful trades do happen, you just have to have a plan, a goal, and sort through all the BS.

johnnyd Phish.net Staff Permalink
johnnyd They need to screen the trades and set up one window for "Reasonable" and one for "Really Unlikely." That would make it easier for people looking for reasonable trades. Yes, everyone is dying to give you their 12/31 for a 12/30 or 1/1.

@phish1 - nice! I didnt start riding til winter of 97/98. Had a handful of huge years, but now just a handful of days a year, what with the 9-5. Weekends aint for me. I'm not much of a freestyle guy but def hold my own free riding and esp. in the woods.

My first ever completely sober show was Amherst II this year, and we were on the rail. When you're literally in the front it gives you a completely different experience, and quite honestly it takes the "natural high" of seeing Phish to a whole new level. There's such a different consciousness while on the rail (so many things to see, things to hear, etc.) that any time I plan to be up there from now on I will always be sober.

brando Thanks for the Feedback johnnyd . Dust and I are trying to build a 4.0 site that fits everyone's needs. Been a lot of work and hope to roll it out soon. Glad to hear about the trades. Yes, there are some folks just looking with not much to offer, yet, roughly 10 or more 5 star reviews come in everyday of people making successful trades. We get tons of emails and feedback with members getting tickets...so it is working for some. But yeah, trying to nail down a NYE ticket for face is a hard task. However a strong profile goes a long way for sure. It is important to build your profile to encourage others to want to trade with you...unlike some...who don't even post a picture.

Anyway, We are hoping our new system helps to set members a part from each other a bit more. Just doing what we can to help fans get the tickets they need at face. It might not be the end all solution right now, but it is helping some.
Thanks so much.
More to come.

johnnyd @brando - thanks for not taking what I said the wrong way! I def did not mean to come across negatively about your site, I think its a fantastic idea. And probably if there is a more 'normal' touring situation (e.g. not all small shows or special events) its much more likely to find 1 for 1 trades.

Also, I'm guilty as charged on the profile thing. I'll get crackin on that at some point!

Keep up the good work!

brando Cool cool. All good johnnyd. Oh I do want to mention that there is the filtering feature to only show what people have or what people want. That helps clear out all this who are just looking and to only show members who really have the right ticket to trade or sell.
Thanks for your feedback. Again, always appreciated.
