Pantera was the "hardest" music I ever got into. Just super talented, especially Dimebag. Saw Pantera with the Ramones YEARS ago in Augusta.
Last year night 2 at Albany I saw an older fellow whit a Pantera shirt on. I complimented it. Exchanged handshakes and talked for a minute. This guy was at Dimebags last show. I asked, "Why the fuck are you listening to Phish now?" his response "No of the hippies are gonna pull a gun." Good meet up.
Ever see a 9 year old hopped up pn cake and soda rage to Pantera.
That is why I fucking love my brother. At age 7 I was listening to Primus, Pantera, Black Sabbath, Buckethead, Dio, Tool and so on.
But comparing John Lennon to Dimebag makes me throw up in my mouth a little.
Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one and is one.I see your up to the hijinks early today Mr. Nipple Nose. Put the pipe down it's too early.
Pantera over the Beatles any day.
So Suck It!
At age 7 I was listening to Primus, Pantera, Black Sabbath, Buckethead, Dio, Tool and so on.Yeah I know, it's a Dimebag thread. But just curious if Tool is even still around? I haven't heard anything from them in ages (course, I haven't been looking or listening out for them). Used to get into them a bit. Thought they were extremely talented.
@Frizz said:I know Maynard in doing the Perfect Circle thing these days, they just released a new album recently, I think. There was a time when i thought Tool was the best band in America and Danny Carey is still one of the best. Don't know if anyone has the first Perfect Circle album but it is filled with amazing covers, including, Lennon's Imagine, Elvis Costello's Peace Love and Understanding, Marvin Gaye's What's Going On, Zep's When the Levee Breaks...great album.
Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one and is one.Of course it's my opinion, I'm posting it in a forum, dude.
Pantera over the Beatles any day.
Pantera over Beatles means you fail at music. YHBT. YHL. HAND.
No. I fail at what you perceive music is.
That whole asshole thing was a joke. Not shit britches it's a forum. No. I fail at what you perceive music is.Looks like someone is extra cranky today.
Not sure he should be mentioned in the same sentence as lennon...but of course frizz to each his own
Not to say he wasn't a good artist, but dimebag was an anti semitic racist asshole.About time some one said that. The lead singer of that band was a prick as well.

In no way do I believe this statement. Sources if I may ask.

He's been around my parts when not on tour to visit his sis and can come across as an immature little kid. tool is still around, very loosely. they get together every like 3 or 4 years put out a ridiculously amazing album that makes me wanna see them. than they do tours with like 15 shows on them in venues like the sovereign center that holds like 2000 people. I really hope APC doesnt come back they are crap compared to tool. Danny carrie is god!
Racism doesnt stop anyone from writing good music. If your a skynard fan, your a hypocrite.
Pantera was a much bigger influence on my formative years than The Beatles were.
And being 26 means I wasn't alive when Lennon was murdered, but was 20 when the Dimebag affair went down.
Darrell was murdered ONSTAGE WHILE PERFORMING by an ex-Marine paranoid schizophrenic who had stopped taking his meds and believed that the band was stealing his thoughts and taunting him...
That's a shitty thing to happen to anyone in my opinion, and really resonates with me as a performing musician.
I am grateful that I was fortunate enough to have seen Pantera live twice, and to have met Darrell on a few occasions.
To say that one was/is "better" than the other is futile.
It's kind of sad to see people mud slinging in here
It is musical/personal opinion and is, as always, completely subjective.
I was in my room. Legitimately about to turn on Pantera or Primus. Decided on tv instead. News to a 16 year old is usually background noise. Packing my backpack with a couple books a Walkman and some joints. When I heard about Abbott, my head shot up. Hearing that he was dead immediately sent tears down my face. My mother walked in on me staring at the screen crying. I was forced to attend school. Took my Pink Floyd shirt off and dug my only Pantera shirt out of the dirty laundry. Smelling of sweat and weed, stained with last weeks spaghetti sauce and bleach spots. I did nothing but stare blankly with headphones on all day. Met up with 2 buddies after school and just sat there. Smoking and thinking.
But I am surprised no one threw out a Bodybag Darrell or Cemetery Gates joke. Hahaha!
To say that one was/is "better" than the other is futile.OK, then why care about the mud slinging? A thread will start with a band you don't like at some point, bring your .02

It's a forum, SO...here ye.
But like I said I totally understand that fans of pantera will feel that way.
Beatles suck. I'm done with mud. I want to sling poop.
^ you might get dirty
You are smarter than that. The news almost always lies dude. They say that about all "metal" and "rap" music.True frizz it could've been media b.s, something I heard when I was little that just stuck with me. Although I'm pretty sure they had video footage of someone in pantera dropping N bombs. But anyways I never got into pantera so I can't really speak on he subject.
Beatles suck. I'm done with mud. I want to sling poop.
I am not a huge Beatles fan either, IMO they weren't extremely talented as musicians , but I will say they were excellent song writers and.vocalist

Its this freakin northern air. I need it to be 90+ with high humidity to feel normal. I've got THIN blood dog. It'll be 70 by Saturday
Anyway.......as a Columbus, OH, native I was stoked to see Damageplan in such a small venue like the Alrosa Villa. I arrived late, by myself, and settled down w/Jack Daniels. Luckily, I was stationed near the bar fairly close to the main entrance. When Nathan Gale (I swear I'll never forget that motherf***ers name as long as I live) started to walk across the stage, I assumed he was a guitar tech or roadie. During the opener I heard the shots, but thought briefly it was a joke or part of the show. When I saw the panic on the faces of the first few people running out, I realized something was very wrong. I ran, got in my car, and bolted. Dime never knew what hit him...never saw it coming.
there are plenty of threads about things i don't like, i just don't go into them....To say that one was/is "better" than the other is futile.OK, then why care about the mud slinging? A thread will start with a band you don't like at some point, bring your .02

lol @ Metal-Hippie Hybrid! It's an interesting transition, that's about as dirty as it can get, and I've loved every minute of it!!

Should've kept my 2 cents to myself I suppose, but I guess it cleared up a misconception that I had about the guy so there is a lil positive in it
