I was in section 419 which was cool because there was so much space. But we literally had some nazi security guy patrolling our area non stop. It was so hard to smoke anything because he was catching people left and right. He threatened to kick a few people out and in no way did he care about the fans experience. At one point i turned around and he had his forearm against a kids neck with the flashlight in his face. Then a security elevator opens with six goons in msg uniforms and they just took the kid away.
From my experience at the garden it was so lenient and you could pretty much toke up anywhere. This time was like the exact opposite. Don't get me wrong I absolutely loved the show it was amazing, but this guy was a super dick and I wasn't expecting anything like this to happen.
Was anyone near section 419? The guy was patrolling multiple sections so I'm wondering if anyone else had troubles with this douche.

Nope I was in the 200s but someone from up there in the 300s or 400s threw a glass bottle and it clocked me right in the side of the head and ear during slave... It didn't break, I have no idea how, and it took me about 2 minutes to even realize what had happened as my ears were ringing and I was seeing spots...fucked me up good. I was glad I was feeling really good otherwise or it probably would have hurt even more. I am not an advocate for violence but after that night I decided if I ever see anyone throw a bottle they're gonna get hurt. If you see people acting stupid around you make them real uncomfortable. On a side note did anyone see that idiot throw something at Trey while riding in on the hot dog? It was mid floor Trey caught it and looked at the dude like WTF and then threw it back at him. Sorry to thread jack...

i thought security was very lenient once inside. i had a bad experience at the gate much like the that guy that started that msg security watch out thread. i got through normal security no problem but once i walked through the gate a supervisor came out of nowhere claiming to have seen something sticking out of my left shoe slash ankle area upon further inspection he found nothing. as he was approaching me all he did was grab my chest to make me stop bend down and say "oh what did i find here". i told him i didnt appreciate how he assumed to have found something before even looking. he found nothing. my pipe was sticking out of my other left leg you dipshit. nice try though.
i pooped on the floor a little i was so scared.

i had a run-in with the head guy on the floor. he was a super-dick. slammed my buddy up against the wall and called him names i don't care to type while i'm at work. searched him and stuff. i was about to poop on myself - i started to walk away and they grabbed me and checked my ticket and stuff. luckily they didn't search me, but i didn't go anywhere near the floor the rest of the weekend.

One of my buddies was thrown out for being stubbed down to the floor and the one who tried to stub him was pushed against a concrete wall and had 3 guys surround him. One of them put his hand around his throat and choked him, but he did break the rules so I get it.

I was in Section 37 on 1/1 and had no problems....I made sure to befriend the usher for our section and he was the coolest guy in the world.

i went to msg last year as well as this year. last year i was fortunate enough to be on the floor and 3 goons literally rummaged through the whole crowd grabbed me under the arms and hauled me out right after the first set. fuck security guards

i wasn't trying to do anything out of control though. i just wanted to toke, which i did get away with. but the way they took that kid into a secret security elevator with six goons as if it were airport security, that was fucked up.

I got tossed from MSG in 96 or 97 for doing nothing more than smoking a butt. Two suits grabbed me and the guy I was sitting with and said lets go. I had a ticket for the floor and everyone around me was obviously puffing something, but they chose us. Led us out through the hockey bench and put us on an elevator that dumped us right on the street. Tossed for a f'n cigarette. I would have understood if it was weed, but c'mon.

I was in 419 also the guy was clearly a nazi usher. we moved over a couple sections to more behind the stage but he was also patrolling that area. At the end of the first set we moved directly behind the stage. The sound was a lot better here than in the corners so we stayed there the rest of the show.

The man puttin' you down brother. The in house security is being given more freedom to be assholes lately, not sure why. I've heard storied of increasing presence. I've experienced it, security just beat my ass at the Lotus 1/1 show. In the past my mistakes would have earned me a surly talking to and escort out...this brought down an as beating! These guys are self proclaimed trippers.

I understand what your saying, but the security people are really paid to keep order, and keep us paying fans safe not to act as policemen. If you honestly believe that busting kids for smoking cigarettes and weed accomplishes that then that's fine, but alot of people would disagree.

Bottom line is if you're gonna break rules, expect to be stealth about it. That's the difference between a show at an established venue (indoor or out) and an independent festival out in the middle of nowhere.That was one of the big realizations at the early fests. "Holy crap, we can do whatever the hell we want and not hide it. Noone cares."
And its also a major factor that separates good festivals from bad, and imo, phish fests from many others. People do whatever they want, but somehow manage to do so without infringing on other people's shit.
