oh summer tour - it's getting deep

mrswigon Permalink
mrswigon what started as excitement for the awesomeness of the 2nd annual phish SE summer tour run - 5 shows from Alpharetta to Portsmouth - has quickly turned into a 'problem'. now discussions are beginning to involve bethel, cayahoga, camden, merriweather... as excited as i am, this is looking to be a raging summer and i hope i make it out alive. anyone got any good ideas for Lot Work to help support my habit?? i prefer easy and high return (don't we all?). also, any good ideas for ways to convince the fiance that it is ok for me to do this *without her*? she's invited to the afore-mentioned SE run, but i gotta convince her that she doesn't need to be at the rest with me. not sure the ole' pocketbook can handle that. good luck mike. can't wait to see yall this summer.

AHHHH - only 3 more months!!!

ADAWGWYO A sick shirt sells itself and is like 3-4 bucks to produce. Sell em for 10 and voila. Drugs can be a good one too. Until you're locked up and tour moves on with out you. Sad, sad feeling I imagine

food is too much work. i don't want to have to actually work to work - that may impede my ability to have fun. i'm thinking tshirts or coozies.

if you have an actual job, you should be able to afford going 2 weeks without pay, if not, time to start saving some money

I mean seriously this getting negative votes thats a bit much. hes right tho if you have a real job you should be able to save money from now til tour and you would have a decent amount of cash. DO NOT SELL FUCKING DRUGS ON LOT I REPEAT DO NOT SELL DRUGS ON LOT PLEASE. Good art prints do sell well as long as they are good. water is easy to move , so is beer and liquor. food sells good after a show for the most part. But whatever you do , dont eat the brown L

I was going to say "water" but that's what I might be doing at those southern shows. Some guys sell them for $2, in fact most do. Paying $5 a case, making back $48....$42 profit per case of water. Sell 2 cases of water and you've covered 2 tickets.

mrswigon nevermind

i have a job, get plenty of paid time off, and was just trying to discuss ways to offset some of the expenses of the trip with the people on here i have grown to enjoy discussing such things with. last summer i only did the 4 SE shows and spent LOTS of money - i'm looking to do twice that this summer (plus i have a beautiful fiance to consider as well). i didn't say anything about doing anything illegal to make this money, just really wanted to start a discussion about how excited i am about summer tour. thanks for ruining that with your smart ass comments though @weekapaug19. hope you are having a wonderful day!

Theres that one guy with the bin on the handtruck always selling for 2 bucks on the way in and a buck on the way out. pure genius that guy. if you bust his balls he will give it to you for a dollar hes not an asshole really good people actually.

This is to mrswigon I was not trying to be a dick but if you work and can save money and get the time off why not just enjoy yourself and not worry about vending its a hassle sometimes and a lot of work needs to go into it to do it right and make money. ive seen a lot of people step out on lot and try to vend only to lose more money. You need to have that hustlers mentality. PLus a lot of these cats out tehre vending have a reputation already and people tend to stick to there people. Like i know i cant wai to get me some falafel adn a pickle baaaby. Dont take peoples comments to heart bro . Your going to get mixed opinions always . Its an open forum . gotta Jibboooooo

glad I could help out, just doing my part to help avoid watching the scene go downhill like it did in the late 90's, early 2000's when people went for the party and didn't go into the show. Gives the band and their fans a bad reputation, creates sterotypes, etc... Didn't mean to ruin your thread, just giving my opinion. Hope you make it to all the shows you wanted to, and if your going to do anything, selling water is a great option, you'll probably need to leave before encore to get a good spot at the exit, but if you do that you can get rid of 2 cases within 10-15 minutes usually, or sell them to people walking in and tell them not to open them since you can typically bring in a unopened bottle.

mgh2001 Has the outside world ever thought that Phish concerts were clean? My point being, since the mid 90s, and after all of the Dead comparisons, the general public typically thinks a lot of drug use is going down. Whether it's 1996 or 2004.

kidrob i got one three words for u if you're trying to sell something on tour, and you'll be in the South. Dry Fit Shirts. I wore a golf shirt i have in this material to deer creek last summer because it was blazing. these shirts absorb everything and are comfortable. i mentioned how some one should be selling shirts like this on the lot, and they could definitely go for money. Sure enough, the next day, i find a MikesSong Dry Fit Shirt on the lot. They were selling them for 15 dollars. Great Deal for this fabric. It was a play on the Lance Armstrong LiveStrong shirts. If I see another dry fit this summer, I will for sure buy it, and many others will too. I recommend these shirts for hot shows. Much better than a retro basketball jersey.

Just be careful what you make and sell. Some places might ask for a venders license and others might not like what your selling. In my opinion, if it isn't hurting anyone, leave the person alone, its not like the person is making a million dollars.....
