oscar reviews...

MiguelSanchez Permalink
MiguelSanchez first and foremost, i am not a fan of any award show. it seems to be one big long-winded cirlce jerk. anyway, i was clicking around last night, and i watched parts of it, got bored, changed it, and would come back at a commercial. it seemed like a pretty standard/boring award show to me. now, all they are talking about on the news is how bad it sucked.

anybody have any incite as to why this one sucked so much worse than most of the other ones? why was it sooo bad that i can't get real news this morning and i have to hear about this bs? oh yeah, news stations are a joke....

well, one question is already answered.

NigelTufnel They failed because Chris Nolan should have won best Director for Inception and WASN'T EVEN NOMINATED.

However, the King's Speech seems legit. Will have to see it.

But to answer your question, too many musical performances and not enough celebration of good movies. I didn't even watch half of it, but Celine Dion, Gwenyth Paltrow, some other rando's....come on. Really?

TheArgus my dad had it on and I really wasn't paying much attention

I just remember at some point they announced wolfman (no idea context or what for) and I said "I know his brother!!" and made my dad choke on his beer

and the oscar goes to......ME BITCHES :p

That movie being nominated for anything was a joke. This year's Oscars were geared towards the younger generation with that stupid ass movie, the dope host, and lame "jokes".

EPIC FAIL

I tried to watch this, as my wife was watching it, she said i snored through most of the second half.

757phan @runawaycory11: Amy made that exact same joke about the wolfmans.

Didn't really watch, but the lady did. I saw Trent Reznor won for best musical score. From NIN to Oscars.....wow. Old school NIN is the shit too.

i watChed it this week. AWFUL MOVIE. Will possibly go down as the worst piece of acting by a cast for any oscar nominated film.

I heard somewhere that in the real story, he was listening to a 2003 show.

CanYouStillHaveFun He mentions listening to Waves from Vegas 04 in the book. Really disappointed 127 Hours and Inception got stiffed.

jackl Bob Lefsetz nails the Oscars as usual...it's "your father's" awards ceremony because the movie industry, like most of the music biz, is about money more than art, and people aren't engaged by the movies anymore and simply don't care.

good, no respecting fan would admit to having Vegas 04 on their ipod.

Bad year for Hollywood in general... everything was remakes, reboots, awful sequels, and 3D BS

Kurtzboy There were some pretty good movies this year (except Social Network, and depending on my mood, Black Swan), but I found the Oscars to be boring. But, honestly, I don't know how to make them more exciting.

I made the mistake of seeing the movie (127 hours) before reading the book. The book is very well written and obviously a great story. In the book, as he descibes beginning the hike he says he is listening to the 2nd set of the vegas show he attended the previous feb which opens up with waves. He descibes the opening of waves and the intro lyrics. It fits the mood perfectly as he describes his surroundings. The movie should have used phish especially the parts where he was ACTUALLY listening to phish. Even when he was trapped, a dark jam would have fit the mood perfectly, perhaps the tower jam.

If Phish was the soundtrack for that movie, I think we all would flip our biscuits.

MiguelSanchez ^agreed. there are any number of darker jams that would've been good, but i can't believe he turned to vegas '04. hmm, that would just further my dispair!
