How to Use the Phish.net Forum

sethadam1 Phish.net Staff Permalink
sethadam1 The Phish.net Forum supports the use of several markup tags generally known as "Universal Bulletin Board", or "UBB", style tags.

The following is a guide for supported UBB tags. Please note that the first character of each tag should be an opening bracket

Text Formatting
[b]text[/b] will show as text
[i]text[/i] will show as text
[u]text[/u] will show as text
[s]text[/s] will show as text
[small]text[/small] will show as text
[big]text[/big] will show as text
[color=green]text[/color] will show as text

Embedding
You can embed content using the buttons above the posting box. You can also type the following codes:

[url=http://phish.net]link[/url] will show as link
[img]http://media.phish.net/logo/logo.png[/img] will embed an image like so:

Image

*Please note that you should use a link to an IMAGE, not to a web page that contains an image

Youtube videos can be embed using:
[youtube]LINK-TO-YOUTUBE-WEBPAGE[/youtube]

Vimeo videos can be embed the same way:
[vimeo]LINK-TO-VIMEO-WEBPAGE[/vimeo]

You can embed a setlist, generated LIVE from Phish.net, using this simple code:
[setlist]11/22/97[/setlist] will embed the setlist from Nov 22, 1997, formatted and properly linked, updated live as the Phish.net staff modifies and corrects the data. Here is an example:

November 22, 1997

Hampton Coliseum, Hampton, VA

Set 1: Mike's Song[1] -> I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove, Harry Hood > Train Song, Billy Breathes, Frankenstein > Izabella

Set 2: Halley's Comet > Tweezer[1] > Black-Eyed Katy > Piper > Run Like an Antelope[2]

Encore: Bouncing Around the Room > Tweezer Reprise

[1] BEK teases.
[2] Lyric changed to "Michael Esquandolas."

Notes: Mike's Song and Tweezer both contained BEK teases, with the ones in Tweezer taking place well before the segue into BEK. Fans of stage banter will want to seek out the second set for Trey’s humorous response to the crowd’s Destiny Unbound chant before Halley’s. The "Marco Esquandolas" lyric in Antelope was changed to "Michael Esquandolas." This show was released as part of the Hampton/Winston-Salem '97 boxed set.

You can also add pre-formatted text. Using [pre]formatted text[/pre] you can write very long words, ASCII art, or pre-formatted, such as this:

From time to time, we add new support. When new codes are supported, they will be posted here.

johnnyd Brief explanation of Friends and Fans:
You can add Friends by selecting the "little person with plus sign" icon on the user's profile or next to any one of their posts. When you add someone as a Friend, you become their Fan, and will see a star next to their name.

If someone adds you as a Friend, they become your Fan, and you'll see the single person with an arrow icon next to their user name.

If you have both added each other, you are Mutual Friends, and see the two-person icon next to their user name.

jackl At the request of forum participants, @sethadam1 today added two new markup tags to hide "spoilers" and "NSFW" (Not Safe For Work) materials where "viewer discretion is advised".

When the tags are added, they will hide these materials when clicked on.

The tags are "spoiler" in [brackets] with a slash "/" to end and "nsfw" in brackets with a slash "/" to end the tags as shown in the UBB style markup syntax as shown in the original post in this thread.

Here is an example:

View Spoilers

Feel free to use to "hide" potentially objectionable materials with these tags!
