conradjohansen Hmmm. I'm gonna have to go with Piper -> Jibboo from SPAC '04. I was absolutely baked the first time I heard it and I checked my iPod to see how much was left of Piper and I was already 2 minutes into Jibboo. Gordo does some serious work.

Phish1 The Ghost> Slave from 7/4/99 is super nice, too. Make sure you know this show. One of my fave's...

July 04, 1999

Lakewood Amphitheatre, Atlanta, GA

Set 1: My Soul, Ya Mar, Farmhouse, The Oh Kee Pa Ceremony > AC/DC Bag, The Wedge, Vultures, I Didn't Know, Fast Enough for You, David Bowie

Set 2: Ghost -> Slave to the Traffic Light[1], The Horse > Silent in the Morning[2] > What's the Use?[3], Wilson > Mike's Song > Sleeping Monkey > Weekapaug Groove

Encore: Carini > Meatstick Reprise

Encore 2: The Star Spangled Banner

[1] What's the Use? tease and a Dark Star tease from Mike and Page.
[2] Little Drummer Boy tease.
[3] Debut.

Notes: Fishman, introduced as “Flagina Fishman,” took a vacuum solo during I Didn’t Know wearing only stars and stripes boxers. Slave included a What’s the Use? tease and a Dark Star tease from Mike and Page. What’s the Use? subsequently debuted later in the set. Silent included a Little Drummer Boy tease. After Carini, the band reprised the chorus of Meatstick while part of the crew and a few fans did the Meatstick Dance. The band performed the second encore in stars and stripes outfits. The show was followed by a fireworks display.

11-30-95 at the Nutter Center outside of Dayton. They had 2 of them. First set, third song was Julius, then it went into NICU, Bathtub Gin (fast version), Rift before going into Fast Enough for you, which I love anyway. The second set was the killer though. Started off with Cars-Trucks-Buses, then went into Tweezer, Markisupa Policeman and then Run like an Antelope (best version I've ever heard, period! they went fucking crazy on that tune) and then Scent of a Mule. Killer, killer, killer to say the least.....

if you like this one, see the ghost> free from polaris on 7/23/99. different but equally impressive. actually, i think i like that ghost better. although, it's been a while since i've given the 7/4 show a spin. that's a good candidate for the drive to work tomorrow.

im not a big fan of the who. something about them just bugs me. i used to fast foward my tape as soon as trey sang the first lyrics of the Real Me.

yeah, the front end rocks too. but you can tell that theyre segueing INTO something. the segue out is seamless....much much smoother than any segue ive ever heard them play.

pnutmcsnappy I've always really enjoyed the Limb by Limb-> 2001 from 12/29/98. It's very spacey and ambient and then just kicks way up. Trey plays this super metal riff but very quietly as they bust into 2001. It's nonlinear and tight and amazing. I get goosebumps every time I listen to it. If I'm in the car listening to it and I get to where I am going before it's over I sit in the car and rock it out. People do stare sometimes but it's because they're jealous.

November 30, 1994

Campus Recreation Center, Evergreen College, Olympia, WA

Set 1: Frankenstein, Poor Heart > My Friend, My Friend > Reba[1], Colonel Forbin's Ascent > Fly Famous Mockingbird -> The Vibration of Life -> Fly Famous Mockingbird, Down with Disease > Bouncing Around the Room, I'm Blue, I'm Lonesome[2], My Long Journey Home[2]

Set 2: Halley's Comet > Run Like an Antelope -> My Sweet One[3] -> Run Like an Antelope[4] -> Fixin' to Die -> Ya Mar -> Mike's Song -> Catapult -> McGrupp and the Watchful Hosemasters > Cavern

Encore: The Horse > Silent in the Morning, Amazing Grace[5]

[1] No whistling.
[2] Acoustic.
[3] Unsually long delay at end, with some band members "snoring."
[4] Unfinished.
[5] Without microphones.

Notes: Reba did not have the whistling ending. The Mockingbird narration included The Vibration of Life. I’m Blue I’m Lonesome and My Long Journey Home were performed acoustic. There was an unusually long delay at the end of My Sweet One, with some of the band members “snoring.” Antelope was unfinished. Amazing Grace was performed without microphones. This show is available as an archival release on LivePhish.com.
