ewarringer:

it has come to my attention that you are copying and trading officially released files in violation of phish's taping policy. specifically, under the user name shinola88 you have mass-distributed all the official livephish.com releases to-date from summer tour 2011 (5/27/11 bethel, 5/28/11 bethel, 5/29/11 bethel and 5/31/11 holmdel) by emailing links to users of the phantasy tour message board. you have also stated your intention to continue distributing official releases, which will not be tolerated.

i bcc'd those who submitted their emails requesting your files and informed the service providers of this activity so they can take appropriate measures based on the types of accounts and terms of service. there are many sources of live phish music freely available to all the recipients of this notice that respect the band's rights and wishes. according to the taping policy at http://phish.com/#/faq/taping-guidelines , official releases are the only audio source that may not be legally copied or traded.

to comply with this notice, you must immediately cease and desist illegal copying or trading of these or any officially released files and immediately remove them from any place from which they may be shared or transmitted, including personal email or messaging. also, please confirm via: email that you understand these actions violate phish's taping policy as well as federal and state copyright and/or trademark law and that you will not violate the band's taping policy again.

thank you for your prompt cooperation. sincerely,

I think he started the "what happened to PT" thread.

FYI - I used to be able to read PT at work and now my work IT system that blocks sites has it registered as "blocked - file sharing site" or something like that.

It's gotten so bad over there that mcafee thinks its a straight up file sharing site and not a messageb oard.

46daze So stupid, the people at LivePhish offer us something pretty unique and work hard to deliver it to us. I had a problem with my Bethel codes after attempting to download the shows while in, let's just call it a less sober state, and they responded to my email in legitimately less than 5 minutes yesterday afternoon and worked with me step by step to help resolve the issue. It's disappointing that something like this would happen

The taylorc auds of Bethel up on bt.etree.org sound amazing. No close mic chatter. Crisp, clear notes. Perfect amount of audience and crowd swells. Sounds like you are there.

People just go for the SBDs without even giving the AUDS a try. You should give the AUDS a try.

Yes, some AUDs are very well done, and I suppose it can be argued that they better provide a feeling of "being there," but when it comes to SOUND QUALITY, that's what SBDs are for. Period.

Plus, paying for LivePhish both helps support the crew that creates them AND Mockingbird. Pretty cool.

As y'all know we have very (very) few specific rules around here, but you all have accepted the phish.net Terms of Use and so know that links to pirated LivePhish or any other official Phish recordings are way out-of-bounds.

If such links are posted here, please pm any of the admins (myself, @jackl, @sethadam1, @icculus etc) so we can deal appropriately.

Grab an audience copy first for free, if you like the show, dl the LivePhish to support the band

I've bought the hd flacs for all the shows I really enjoyed and I still have auds for all those shows anyways. There are benfits/drawbacks to both aud/sbd.

taylorc is definitely one of the best if not the best and when I'm impatient and money is too tight to get the sbd I will definitely get his aud. but the reason i don't use etree anymore is i just got too burned out downloading the flac or shn, then converting it to mp3 and manually keying in all the data so I can listen to it on my ipod. Like I've said before, maybe my ears aren't as awesome as some of yours, but I can't hear any difference between the original flac and the converted mp3. I've done A/B tests numerous times to see if there really is a difference and (on my modestly-priced speakers/earphones) there just isn't. plus I save a ton of disk space. If I want an aud I will get it off the spreadsheet where its already in my format of choice. Since there is just one of each show on the spreadsheet, I assume whoever it is that posts the shows has cherrypicked the best ones from those which are available on etree. I could be wrong, but that would be the most logical thing to do. Does anyone know whose auds the spreadsheet will typically have? I'm guessing taylorc's cause they're usually the best and the first to be posted.
Score: 0

JayDubya Permalink
JayDubya taylorc's are itunes ready. Convert to mp3 and drop in itunes. Song titles are already coded.

I like to have the FLACS, because I'm insane. I have bins of CD's containing SHN and FLAC files. I used to convert the flacs directly to WAV and listen on CD, until I discovered the ipod (this year)

Now I convert the FLACs to MP3 and listen on my ipod. I keep a backup copy of the FLACS burned to a disc. I'm going to burn the entire summer 2011 tour FLACs to DVD-Rs and stick them in a box, probably to never be opened again.
