It will be at noon on Saturday, July 2, at the back of the concert field next to the Waterwheel tent "landmark", rain or shine.
We'll remind you closer to the weekend and share some other details as the event gets closer, but we hope that active forum participants and other readers and users of Phish.net will come and hang with their fellow netizens.
As everyone whose been to a Phish festival knows, there are a lot of fun diversions and things to do when the band's not playing.
So we wanted to announce the time and place of the .net meetup as early as we could firm it up to give everyone attending SBIX a good heads up and put it on your radar.
Hope all of you reading this who are coming to SBIX will make it...feel free to RSVP on this thread.
sounds good, i will be there.
Kinda conflicts with the Runaway Jim 5+K (11:15 on Saturday if I'm not mistaken). Can it be moved a little later? Or should we just run faster, and show up all stanky?LOL. We thought of that, and based the start time on the slowest finisher in the initial Runaway Jim 5K at IT, me (45:00). (Seriously, that's what I ran it in and the'd already taken the timing clock down, the winner does it in like 15 minutes!).
As I said in the OP, there's a lot of fun stuff at a Phish show and we had trouble "slotting" something into a known time and place we could announce and plan for. We'll be running at least a couple of hours; Phish doesn't start until 3:00. So runners in the 5K should have plenty of time to change if they want!
But (in my mind at least), I plan on running the thing in 20 minutes flat and should have time to shower (yes I said SHOWER) before the meet up. Otherwise, you will all be frightened.
YES finally a .net meetup I will be able to make! I met some fellow netters on tour (ivy, phishybanjo, bostonron, trev, slothelot, tasteforfee and probably more) and it was so fun, I look forward to meeting the rest of you IRL. My name is Jason by the way, you can call me that or anything that sounds like it, but I'm not used to answering to "stagebanter"... sorry! :-)
Count me in.
5K in 15 minutes? That has me baffled.
I will be a tentative maybe. I'm not sure I can admit to all my friends I spend all day on the phish message board. They already know I'm a dork as it is.
Saturday is bright green mighty duck T-shirt day so if I stealth happen to walk by the waterwheel desk with a mighty ducks shirt with like 7 or 8 other people all wearing green duck shirts and quacking just pretend you know me in real life.

5K in 15 minutes? That has me baffled.LOL. Didn't I say I only know what's going on at the back of the pack. OK, googling winning 5K times (which again, I don't know what's going on at the front), I'm seeing ~19:46 at 6:30/mi. running. Not 15:00! Same thing to plodders like me! :-)
(I'm only a sometimes runner, cycling's more my thing).

I will be there with bells on! In fact I think we should all wear bells or at least carry tick tacs in our pocket to make sure we are all easily recognizable! Is that a tic tac in your pocket? Or are you happy to be at Superball?
@forbins0218 said:Bring your tick tacks, but we will also have a sign-up table with "Hello my name is..." name tags too, like we did at the NYE meetup at the Hudson Yards Cafe, and will encourage people to put their name/screenname on their tag. (That's the major point of the meetup of course...putting a face to the screenname/avatar.)I will be there with bells on! We are also planning on handing out a very special piece of commemorative swag for you to wear at the .net meetup which will help identify you as a .netter. Please wear your .net ts too if you have them! We'd like to do a group photo at some point to commemorate the event and put the photo up on the blog here.
We also would expect that we will have a biggish crowd milling around in the middle of an open area, maybe have a banner or flag up and some other stuff to help people recognize that this is indeed the .net gathering you are looking for! And the Waterwheel tent is a pretty big landmark taboot, so we should be OK here with finding the meetup.
I'll be there.
sounds good, i will be there. If calico is there, then I am definitely in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to the meet up!!
It will be at noon on Saturday, July 2, at the back of the concert field next to the Waterwheel tent "landmark", rain or shine. So is this within the concert field, proper? (As opposed to the village or installations and marketplace that are part of the 24/7 all-access grounds.) And the field will be open this early?
Where I'm going with this, is I probably can't bring a cooler of beer, jug of yucca, or a flagon of Neti-K if its actually within the concert field...
]So is this within the concert field, proper? (As opposed to the village or installations and marketplace that are part of the 24/7 all-access grounds.) And the field will be open this early?Yes, concert field, not village. When we talked to the Phish organization about holding a .net gathering, looking for a "landmark" to announce, they said the plans and map for the "village" were not firmed up, but there were two big tents at the back of the concert field we could meet near.
One was the House of Live Phish tent, and on the other side was the Waterwheel charity and Jim Pollock poster show tent.
We all figured that the Waterwheel tent would be less "busy", since HoLP usually has lines to get in.
Am assuming that the concert field will be open then not only because we shared the proposed Saturday noon time with Phish but because this arrangement with the HoLP and Waterwheel/Pollock operating is obviously intended to operate when Phish is not on stage; the concert field setup sounds more like Indio than the Limestone/Big Cypress festivals where the "villages" and "concert fields" were entirely separated, and the concert field was "closed" except for the shows.
Where I'm going with this, is I probably can't bring a cooler of beer, jug of yucca, or a flagon of Neti-K if its actually within the concert field...We'll know more closer to the event, but it's probably a safe bet that BYOB on the concert field is a no-go. We aren't planning any refreshments for this reason and to keep the area litter free.
I don't know if I will make it, but, I am going to do my best to be there at noon.@CillyG
Don't stress if you're somewhere else at exactly noon (especially if you're running in the 5K).
We plan on hanging out there until about 2:30 (the first set starts at 3:00), so don't feel you have to be there at noon "on the dot" or anything.
Look forward to meeting up. I just decided im going to sbix
Good decision made on your part.
