Thanks for sharing that video, @Altimus, hopefully some people on here pay attention to it and tell their friends.
One of those dooshlords was problably the Camden Psycho Killer yeller. Losers.
I do agree with the OP that the video is bullshit though
so a VERY small group of people take the sign thing too far, what about the 99% of other people who bring signs but respect the views of others around them?I've never been disturbed/impeded by signs at all so I'm cool with it in general, but it seems from other people's accounts like it got out of hand during the second half of this past run. My comment above was solely in reference to this particular video though.
Bottom line is that no one paid to see you or your sign, they came to see the four guys on stage. I have similar feelings about stage jumpers and glowstick wars. I kinda like both generally, but it pisses me off when either gets out of hand to the point where the band has to pay attention to that instead of the music they're creating.

Technically there are not supposed to be any video recording devices so point=moot. The point is not moot, even if there was no video being taken the people behind those douchebags still can't see.

and hey you at least gotta give them credit for their resilience in the face of adversity...with that said...fuck those people.
i dont get it? you missed 1.5 seconds of a song, im 6'4" and i guarantee you the person behind me misses 1.5 seconds of every every bar. as soon as the song started, they put it down.
haters gonna hate. your better off on the couch tour if you cant handle that

Trey has said in an interview that holding up a sign while they are playing is dumb because you aren't taking in each moment and appreciating the song they are playing and just longing for your song.He did say that. However, I blame the worsening sign problem on that fact that Trey has been entertaining signs this whole tour. On multiple occassions I have seen pictures of him grabbing signs and holding them up, this is just going to encourage more signs. If Trey would just ignore them, they would go away.

At least that's what I made out anyway.
I believe the sign in the video read "Isn't this sign huge and annoying?"lol

im annoyed that i cant figure out what song is written on it. LLTYA????ET VA
Is it the name of their town in Virginia (Portsmouth show) and not even a song request? This is gonna piss me off too, now.
I know this would never happen, nut there should be some sort of rule that disallow signs of songs like possum, miles, yem and other rather common songs. The signs should be saved for songs like ASIHTOS, pebbles and marbles, Magilla, Axilla 2 and other rare tracks. There is no need for a BDTNL sign, and I met let someone know that if I were to see one.
signs should only be raised between songs.
i have told people in front of me to put down signs and only raise them between songs and they have obliged me...
if you hold up the sign during the music you are pissing off people behind you and distracting the band. does anyone think trey wants to be reading signs while he's ripping a wild solo?

We need Pete Arbuckle on this case.
1. Simpsons signal
2. Somantin (I liked the guy holding it but he kept blocking my view. If they aren't going to play it by the encore, put it down.)
Best sign:
1. Alpharetta.....Watcher of the Skies. Trey said yes but mouthed 'not tonight.' It is coming kidz. I also liked that the sign was stolen from some kid who wrote Guyute on it and some rail rats wrote Watcher instead.
What happened to the day when we wrote our song choices on beach balls? Isn't that how Wipeout happened on 11/27/98?
MORE BALLS!!!
I brought a sign this time around but I was in the front row and only held it up in between tunes. Plus I kept it in front of my face so not to make the kids behind me look at the back of my sign all night. Just practice good etiquette. Plus they didn't play my song so it will definitely be the last time I carry a dang sign all day.
I see someone in the youtube comments asked what it says, hopefully an answer will pop up.
Also, there is a sign up in front of their sign, over to Fish side. That's good stuff.
/horrible Train song = redundant
signs are stupid
signs are stupidNot when they are original, and not when the band is on the same page and decides to play song x on the sign. That's when it's pretty cool. Big signs as shown in the op video are so dumb.
That's so inconsiderate. It's one thing to drape a sign that size off a balcony (i.e., the Ghost sign @ Thomas and Mack '03), but there's no place for that on the floor, as it clearly pissed off A LOT of people.1 Day Since Last Ghost

Dose is say "MEET VA"? Like that horrible Train song Meet Virginia? That's what I'm choosing to believe til proven otherwise.whoa. douchiest possibility yet. now my stomach hurts and im sad.
For Leg II, I'm making a sign requesting more signs.PersOnally, I want someone to make a Possum sign. They NEVER play that song.

FWIW, the sign that I held up for Charlotte and Portsmouth "We don't care what you play, as long as you say hey" got noticeable attention from Trey. Before Harpua, he called it out as the 'best sign'. Honestly though, signs are for people still chasing songs they haven't heard. I don't see anything wrong with it as long as people are considerate about it.That's the thing -- continuing to hold up signs throughout the show is inconsiderate and silly.
Houses In Motion is a great song.......but COME ON.....has Phish even played that ONCE since 10/31/96?? You expect them to memorize every song they have ever played?? They are not your personal iPod, buddy.
just my 2 cents
