Jayem So people go to shows and spend time recording other fans dancing. For real? Those two in the OP werent even crazy weird spun out dancing. Kinda "normal" if you ask me. Why the hell would some shmuck tape that? To make fun? Not knockin the OP but rather the douche shooting the vid. Maybe im just cranky today but that shit really bothered me

rad, YES you do! It is awesome, and every time we are raging a show together and i see the jazz hands, it gets me that much more excited.

oh and i just get DOWN to it. To the point where i don't really notice the people around me, just me, the music and the band, and my crazy dancing moves.

joonze The only way to get down is when you don't realize anyone is around you and you are just part of the music. Let's hey down to the nutty gritty, let's get the show on the road!

Kind of makes me wonder if I am on a Youtube video somewhere. I dance like I feel.. and can give two turds who is watching me. That's one of the best parts about good, live music.

Feel good music, I've been told... Good for your body, Good for your soul

Everyone looks like a fool when the boogie.
I quite enjoy the people that embrace the foolishness and those who capture it.
How does this ruin your good time? Or anyone's for that matter? Hell if I was recorded you'd most likely see head banging, feet shuffling and air instruments.

Was thinking the same thing when I saw that but the reality is the guy taping this is a shmuck and the guy dancing is the winner here.

ivy_light Permalink
ivy_light I can honestly say that Phish makes me move in ways I never thought possible. And it doesn't happen exactly the way it does with Phish with any other music I've encountered. I feel the different parts in different parts of my body. All the way to my fingertips which are usually tapping out the melody or lyrics, sometimes two different parts with different hands.

I usually hone in on the rhythm section so I feel Mike and Fish straight to my core. But lately, I've been feeling kind of synced up with Trey.

Regardless, I probably look like I'm having some kind of ridiculous euphoric seizure.

One thing's for sure: If it's Sand or Moma or Ghost or Boogie On, I'm getting low and dirty and probably am clearing some space. I always am apologizing to the people around me 'cause I feel like my huge ass is busting into their space. Everyone has always been gracious and it has had the added benefit of being a conversation starter and a great way to meet my neighbors.

So...how do I groove? 120%. That's probably the best way to describe it. I dunno. Some of you must've seen me bust some moves. Pretty retarded, amiright?

At this summer's Long Beach show, there were a few Asian-American guys in the row in front of me. They spoke Japanese, and they were dancing in a sort of dorky fashion, though I'm the last person in the world qualified to judge the overall dorkiness of someone else dancing.

A husband and wife down the row were laughing at them and videoing them with her phone.

I was bummed out. I would not be surprised if those guys had actually flown here from Japan ( cause the dollar/yen exchange rate is lopsided in their favor, and Phish aren't playing Japan ); they didn't deserve to be mocked. I should have filmed the couple with MY iphone so they'd see how it felt. Assholes.
