So how much do you think Trey takes home in a given year of average touring? I think I remember reading in Nicki Sixx's book that the guys from Motley Crue would make less than $300-400K during a tour after expenses were paid. I read in my wife's latest People Magazine that Miley effing Cyrus cleared like $15MILLION last year, which makes me want to throw up.

costs a lot to rent big summer sheds....costs a lot to thump that sound gear....at times you can feel their gear reach out and brush your arms a bit....moving a lot of air in the low to low-mid range....suckle from the power pole my wee friends...suckleExactly. I can do the math on the gross revenue from a show, but what % of that makes it into the band's hands? Not to mention, how much are they making off all the merch? I couldnt believe all the official prints i saw getting sold this summer at $50 a pop.

They are nothing but a bunch of nouveau riche snobs. I used to clean Page McConnell's pool in [REDACTED], where he still lives. Every time I tried to sing him one of my songs and tell him how good I thought it would be for Phish to do, he would get all huffy and coldshouldered. Like the rest of them, he's an effete egomaniac with some decent chops but not much else going on. I don't care how much money they make, they are still just like the rest of us ordinary folks out here.If I were Page and my pool guy tried to give me pointers about Phish I'd probably fire his ass. Just do your job keep the pool blue and wet and I'll do mine. I'm going to just laugh at the rest.

Economics of scale. Right now Phish is stuck in sheds 15-30 thousand. The unmentionable most profitable live band in history pulled it off with multiple night sellout runs at Giants Stadium and RFK... That'll keep you trucking on and on and on.

Phish is rich, as they should be, they rock, sell out stadiums not as a 25 man baseball/hockey team, as a 4 man band. Yes they have a crew, but so do the respective teams. Not to mention they have been paying there crew as part of their INC. since the early 90's, that in itself is very impressive. The band is very well run, managed, and without a doubt in my mind, very profitable. As for the exact numbers Phish makes, that would be tough to ever get ahold of.
lol setlist essential "prince caspian"Hehehehe, I saw that, too. Yes, dude, we all go to shows dying to hear f***erpants one more time.

I'm sure the boys are comfortable....nest eggs and enough to play wherever they please....maybe just rich enough to head back for another European campaign....there would be a lot of financial risk in that endeavor....may have to take a bit of a loss to make it happen, but if well received it might work out nicely

Don't know how accurate this is, but this website seems to think Trey has a pretty decent chunk of moola saved up.
I would bet the band probably takes home somewhere around 60k a show at the most. Out of the million or so per night a LOT goes to the venue, security, roadies, techs, etc (and there is a lot of etc). I shed no crocodile tears for the Phish guys as they deserve everything they get and could easily charge an additional 20 per ticket. I would hope they all clear a cool million on the summer, but that is probably pushing it.why would they bother?I would think it has to be more than 60k. Really I am by no means an expert on finance, but this number seems low.
@Gallium said:I wouldn't bitch about 60k a show if I was in a band. each member gets 15k a night times like say 50 shows a year=750k a year from shows alone. not including album/merch sales. I am sure the total is much higher though. tickets cost an average of 50(before ticketbastard fee's). Lets say about 15k people per show. That is 750,000 a show in ticket sales. I'd guess the venue takes about 20% of that at the most, given that they can sell food/beer/parking. say the average patron spends 10 to park and about 25 on food/drink, that is over 500,000. subtract the costs (which are probably 5% of the revenue) and the venue is making just under 500k. They really don't need to take a large cut of the ticket price. I'd say maybe 5-10% if ticket sales goes to paying the bands crew (37-75k) per show. Maybe another 10% for lighting/speakers/energy. I'd say the remaining like 60% (450k) goes to the band. so they're making roughly 112,500 a night on average as far as I can seeI would bet the band probably takes home somewhere around 60k a show at the most. x 50 shows a year= 5,625,000
1. In college my fraternity looked into booking Widespread Panic to play our annual concert/fundraiser. This was 1998ish, and they would have cost $25K.
2. There was an article through .net a few months ago about other bands looking to Phish for advice on security dealing with unruly fans. O.A.R. was banned from playing Jones Beach, and their manager was quoted saying it cost them about $250K per show not being able to play there.
they make plenty. why else do you think they reunited?
Then ya gotta figure another million in cash in parking. seriously. I know the Phils get 30 percent of the $ made in the stadium. also, keep in mind, none of this includes credit card sales. Big venues are looking to make 30-40$ a seat once the people are inside, not including ticket sales or parking.
But sports teams make all the real dough on TV stations and Advertising. A deal with coke is what really pays the athletes salaries.
Major overhead for insurance, travel, employees. but mostly insurance.
Yea, That ish that just happened in Indiana before that concert was horrible. yall gotta utube it. Thanks god it didn't happen at a phish show, I couldn't imagine seeing that while spun out.
But my point is just that our boys do real well for themselves.
Just pointing out for those that think the end of the show is the end of the expense.
Bottom line is they are super rich any way you slice it.
Just for comparison, U2 grossed 330 million for 44 shows on their 2009 tour. That's ten times more than the figure someone posted for Phish's tour the same here.
Here is an article showing the top average gross *per show* for 2009, and Phish isn't on the list.
