Did any of you actually listen to it? The 10 minutes I listened to sounded good to me. I don't think I could listen to the whole thing (at least in one sitting) but, I like their stranger stuff. By the way @TheArgus, I met them at Allgood in 2005 and they were the least pretentious band I have ever met....yes even more accessible than the members of Phish that I have come into contact with. Musical taste is subjective so I will never fault anyone for not liking a band. That being said, these guys are about as down to earth as anyone I have had a chance to talk with.

agreed 100%. i've never had the chance to meet wayne or stephen, but after following their career for quite some time and seeing Fearless Freaks (one of the best rock documentaries i've ever seen) as well as seeing them perform several times, I can't find a bad thing to say about them. These are some of the most down-to-earth, hardworking people you'll come across. Their intent is for your delight as well.

@goatsticks I fully agree that Fearless Freaks is one of the best documentaries I have ever seen. I highly recommend it and it is available for instant watch on netflix.

LOL, if Phish did a six hour tune it would be hailed as epic, ground breaking and legendary and a damn shame that the media wasn't paying enough interest to. Each and every minute would be dissected and would be to songs as Big Cypress was to shows.

Gotta also look at the context with which it was made- for a game with strobe lights meant for tripping.

Sorry man I'd feel the same way if Phish did it, no one needs to play a song for that long. If it turns into a free-form jam, then that's ok, but if it is basically the same song with the same central theme, I'd eventually
A. Get bored
B. think they were still playing just to prove they could play the same thing for 6 hours

I will listen to The Flaming Lips song and see what I really think about it, I honestly do like them, my initial impression is that it just comes off as them writing a 6 hour song to prove they could which to me is showing off and pretentious. Feel free to disagree, hell my mind may be changed, it's not easy to find 6 hours to do anything, much less listen to a 6 hour song

just my opinion man, not hating on the lips, I admire them as a band thats consistently breaking the barriers....but this just isnt music to me.
