How much $ are you taking to NYE?

I have 700 dollars saved up I have all my tickets and I owe 255 dollars on my hotel room. To .net standards is this enough for a succesful Phish weekend in NYC for NYE? How much did yall spend last year?

shaftyjay My hotel, tickets, and transportation are all paid for. Not really sure what amount to bring to be honest. Being unemployed, I can't really be big ballin' with my cash. I'd love to find additional party favors aside from what I already have to bring, but don't want to risk it outside of MSG. I'm rolling solo, so asking a friend of mine to help seek things out isn't in the cards for me.

Just off the top of my head, I'm gonna go with $350 for 4 days, 3 nights, unless I find some more cash between now and the 28th. I guess I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope that will get me enough food, drink, and possible unmentionables.

Any decent sit down meal will be 20$ at the very least. 2 or 3 of those a day + goodies, travel, etc. It would be tough especially around NYE.

I've found plenty of places where you can eat for under $20 per meal. Have you seen Anthony Bourdain's new show "The Layover"? He did one in New York, even though its his hometown. 90% of the places he went to are under $20 per meal type of places. Granted, he didn't rock star it in K-town, or go to Peter Luger's. He went to places like Baohaus, The Burger Joint in the Le Parker Meridien Hotel, Crif Dog, Shake Shack, Papaya King....all under $20 per meal. Yeah, it's hot dogs and burgers, but f***....that's all I need to keep me going over 4 days of debauchery.

I did see that show, I actually love Bourdain's shows. On the other hand when asked the "best place to eat for 15$" he has a few suggestions but said it's pretty hard to come by a decent meal for under 15$ in NY. Which is definitely true, i'm talking a full mean with drinks, etc.

shaftyjay Well, eating at these places over the course of the time you're in NYC, then you can budget $ towards a couple sit-down meals with drinks. Skimp here, floss there. I personally save my drinking $ for the points in time where I'm not sitting down for a meal.

Well since I'll be with my other 17 year old friend the whole time, I don't think we're going to have many drinks at nice sit-down restaurants :p

Chilly Probably about 300-400 for me, should be more than enough. Aside from alcohol, every treat I need will be coming with them. So food and booze. I will probably eat one small meal and one regular size meal each day. I already figured out our travel routes, that will only be about $10 a day. In the long run I will probably end up bringing money back with me.

Luckily if shit hits the fan, I have my bank account or a credit card to fall back on. But the cash I bring in hand should be enough.

I know a lot of you guys make a whole trip out of it, but for me it is Phish show, lots of sleep, food getting read, phish show, etc etc. Maybe one or two things in between but probably not really much.

shaftyjay I've heard of this place called "99 cents Fresh Pizza" as well. Hell, if you're really scraping the bottom of the barrel, there isn't anything better than a slice of cheese pizza that costs less than a buck. I hear they charge $2.75 for 2 slices and a soda, or $8 for a whole pie. They'll even add ingredients to the pizza for a very small charge. I mean....come on!

and money wise, I hope to only have to spend 600 to 1000 for a grand ole party. could spend more if needed, but I'm banking on that working out fine.

I have all my tickets, and apartment is paid for. so no worries there... so yeah, just planning to do lots of stuff, pre and post shows... and then the meetups, etc.

and like someone said, you dont have to spend a lot of money hanging out at a bar...
