My stream did not have one single hiccup or drop-out. It was perfect the entire show. Not sure if they were just able to work out bugs, or maybe there were less people streaming? Or maybe I got lucky? Either way it was a great experience and can't wait to do it again.
Sweet!! Been pretty excellent here last two nights though there were a couple major buzzkill dropouts per show, always in the midst of a fave tune or sick solo, of course. I have a 4 year old laptop with DVI only & need to upgrade I guess, but by and large it's been fantastic. Tonight had friends over, total blast for all.. kids + glowsticks = nirvana.
Any word on those gigabytes, bro?Ok looks like it is an 80gig
I have had it for about two year, got it just before they came out with the smaller ones.
@Jimmymac03 On the back of the system, you should find a serial number, which will be letters and numbers (mine is 2 letters followed by 9 numbers) then a dash and more letters and numbers, this is the model number. Go here and find your model number in the drop down menu and it will tell you beside it what size the system is. Thanks a lot man.Ah, one sec...
Yeah I don't know much about PS3s but the size of the HD would not change anything, however if the size of the HD also means that other components are different then it may but I don't think that's the case.Well, the problem I had was that it told me there wasn't enough memory to run the HD videos on LP. Now, on my PC they buffer every 3-5 seconds, but I can still load them, albeit not very well. Wouldn't a bigger hard drive mean more memory as well?

@mgh2001 said:I would assume they are talking RAM, not HDD for buffering. Again i'm not up to date on PS3s but I believe I read that they don't have a lot of RAM but then again, if everyone else doesn't have this issue then I don't know why you would unfortunately.Yeah I don't know much about PS3s but the size of the HD would not change anything, however if the size of the HD also means that other components are different then it may but I don't think that's the case.Well, the problem I had was that it told me there wasn't enough memory to run the HD videos on LP. Just reading this thread and gave me the idea to use my ps3 too.
Can someone explain to me how to go about this? Should I use the web browser on the ps3 to go to livephish.com and buy the stream? What if I miss part of the stream. Can I rewind it, or do I get the show on video for a little while to catch up??? Can I try out the process before the show starts to make sure it all works??? Sorry for all the questions but i guess i'm just a newb... thanks
Yes, and no. HDD and RAM have nothing to do with eachother. Meaning you could buy a computer with 750GB of HDD space and 1GB of RAM, on the other hand you could also buy a computer with a 250GB HDD and 8GB of RAM.
Yeah, that's what I meant. Doesn't a bigger HDD generally mean more RAM?
That said, often computers with more RAM have more HDD space simply because it's a more expensive computer, not because RAM and HDD size go hand in hand, as I mentioned above they don't have anything to do with each other from a technological/working point of view as they do different "jobs" so to speak.
I hope I helped a little bit. When I say "computer" i'm speaking of anything ranging from a PS3 to an XBOX to a laptop or desktop. They all use the same type of computer "system" as far as what hardware does what, and works together to function as one piece of equipment.
@mgh2001 said:The 2 are unrelated. My laptop came with 4GB of RAM and a 320GB HDD. I've seen them advertised with the same RAM but a 640GB HDD. And I've upgraded my laptop to 8GB of RAM. does little good with no internet bandwidth though@cjfphan21 said:Yeah, that's what I meant. RAM is instant memory, HDD is stored memory. Theoretically, more RAM means a faster computer/internet/et'all. Internet speed is a part of it as well though, RAM is irrelevant when you have low bandwidthThat's not necessarily true. If you're running a program that only needs 2GB of ram, having the 6GB won't really matter. If you're running many programs, editing video, playing video, or anything that takes more than 2GB of RAM to run then obviously more RAM would indeed make a difference but more RAM doesn't always mean that your computer will be faster, and especially with the internet, it doesn't have much to do with how quickly it will run. The speed of the RAM arguably has just as much importance on the speed of your computer as the amount, and of course the processor and graphics card also have a big influence on the speed, etc.
Anyone trying to stream tonight using PS3? I did the test on mine and its coming out terrible. Newer 500GB PS3.
Up and runnin on iPad and ps3....ps3 is winning
Using a laptop now and it's buffering perty bad gonna try ps3 either way hope buffeting stops
