the 6/26 In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is also my favorite random cover I've ever seen them play.
Merriweather was the 4th and 5th. I was so sloppy the second night I tried to get in using my first night's ticket. I remember freaking out for a while as I ran back to the car and ruffled through a lot of shit before I found it. Once I did though everything else that night was smooth sailing. I didn't know Saw it again at that time and so spent a good bit of the second set trying to figure out (in awe) what was happening. Best piper I've ever seen live. Killer YEM with saw it again quotes. Met a lot of really nice people and learned how to drive a stick shift that weekend too. It was great
one-off neutral milk hotel cover. second set wolfman's which is rare now. walfredo & tela! meatstick bustout. saw it again sillyness. pretty damn good piper. jumpin jack flash was a treat but not as good of one as i am the walrus at cmac next show. was on fish side loge first night & from that angle i could see several chicks really raging backstage during 46 days which made me smile
there is way better 3.0 out there. i'd be happy to make some recs
part of my negativity comes from the fact that the venue is a hassle. i can't relax the way i'd like to at a phish show there
6-27 is still my favorite 3.0 show to this day and 6-26 isnt one to sleep on either. And i would say I have a good amount of 3.0 experience
i was there. i think they came out fired up with the intent to erase what was a sub-par show at that venue the previous summer (8-15-09). the 2010 run at MPP was definitely an improvement but ultimately outdone by the 2011 run. That '09 show would be my worst show if not for the festival that shall remain nameless and the 2010 second day was probably my favorite non-fest show. Amazing the difference a year makes.
6/26 had a bit of a damper on it because the US lost in the world cup (if my memory serves). At least, that's what I felt.

@frantic0blivion I've never had an issue at MPP with security. I found them pretty non-existent on the lawn for the 4 shows I've seen there, maybe they are more present in the pavilion. Now my hometown venue of Camden that's a different story...
6/26/2010 was my first Phish show! I enjoyed the hell out of it. I was really bummed my buddies and I couldn't make night two. I still had a blast. What a rockin' 46 Days, Wolfman's Brother with a little vocal jam, that random Neutral Milk Hotel cover, Sugar Shack too. Good Tweezer as well I thought.
I didn't have a ticket for 6/27 when I woke up that Sunday. But I figured, "I live in Baltimore, they're playing right there, I start law school in a little over a month, how many more opportunities like this could I have?" I didn't have a car at the time, and the folks I knew who were going to the show were already in Columbia, so I hailed a cab, headed down, and bought a lawn ticket cheap. Best decision I've ever made. Was stuck on the lawn by myself and had the time of my life.
When people say there aren't good 3.0 Piper's, I point them to 6/27/2010.
Made a three night run 6/25-6/27 2010. Took a train into Philly for Camden on 6/25 and went with the same folks to MPP on 6/26. 6/26 was the worst of the three, but still pretty good. I thought it kinda started out slow (same opening songs as a pretty bad show in 2009) and picked up steam as the show went. I didn't have a ticket for 6/27 when I woke up that Sunday. that's what I'm hoping. I've got some really shaky credentials.
"I'm hoping to get into UofB Law for the Fall " --- what he said, get that application in now.
Summer of '99, having just graduated from UB Law and I'm studying for the bar and pretty much hating it. There's about two weeks left before the bar exam, which means all studying and no playing. I drove from my place in SoBo on 95 South going to my parents house to study and, lo and behold, a couple carloads of phans on their way to MPP blew past me. Kind of bummed me out missing out on that one.

Huh, don't agree with that at all. I loved the 2010 Merriweather run, but the 2011 run, while it had its moments, left me feeling a little flat.
6/27/10 was a really big deal at the time -- this was before Utica, Manchester, etc., so they hadn't really tried that kind of thematic interweaving in 3.0 before. It was weird, it was goofy, and it worked. The individual jams from that night aren't all that spectacular (Piper is good, but all over the place; Saw It Again is kind of noisy, etc.), but the flow of the second set is spectacular. Add in all the bustouts, and it's a real winner.
I loved 6/26, too -- I didn't think they were gonna top it the next night. Sure, the first set is pretty bland, but the R&R deserves to be mentioned alongside the Camden CDT and Blossom BDTNL as one of the best jams of the month, plus the Tweezer gets nice and dark, and the Wolfman's is more playful than most up to that point in 3.0.
The 2011 run, on the other hand... well, both first sets were littered with treats. The second set 6/11, though, wasn't that great until R&R (which was spacey and appreciated but not all that connected) and Piper (which was fantastic, no qualifications needed). The second set 6/12 didn't have much to offer at all except for a standard, type-I Crosseyed and the return of Steam -- after that there was just a below-average Light, below-average Hood, and a bunch of songs that shouldn't be in the second set at all.
I loved Merriweather 2010, though. Best Phish I'd seen up to that point, easily.
