That sucked no doubt. But the 2011 red sox had a bad MONTH. The 2004 Yankees had a bad WEEK. Theres no comparison. Silly sox fans think there are though. It's cute.

I will say this though. Fenway is a great looking ballpark until you sit in one of the seats. And then it's so damn uncomfortable that it doesn't matter what the place looks like

I love being a Yankee fan in Boston. It's made for fun times.

All major sports media that cover the game of baseball agree with the silly Sox fans that the 04' ALCS was the greatest collapse of a baseball team ever.

Jayem Permalink
Jayem @themefromthepossum I agree that Fenway needs to be replaced. Most Sox fans are in denial. I have been to a handful of the new stadiums including Yankee Stadium. They are so nice and well designed.

I am 5'9" 170 lbs and even I can't sit in the Fenway seats comfortably most of the time. Current ownership has done a great job of opening up a few concourses but there is only so much you can do with the stands.

I refuse to go to Sox vs Yanks games in either park. The amount of assholery that goes on if off the charts. I've seen guys minding thier own business walking with thier girls get beers thrown on them, grown men swearing at kids. It's insane. I really enjoy baseball and love going to games. I go to 5-10 minor league games every year. The stereotypical Sox and Yanks fan have ruined it for me.

While I appreciate you have a 100 year old stadium you should get a fact checker. The new Yankee Stadium is privately paid for. NY State issued bonds to assist in getting the Steinbrenners tax effecient financing but didn't actually pay for anything.

In fact NYS is collecting the interest income on the lending and making money on the dal.

raydog Outside of Papelbon and Beckett it was getting really hard to hate the Sox. For the most part, they guys like Lester, Wakefield, Pedroia seemed pretty decent. Then, in a stroke of brilliance, you bring in Bobby V to manage, accomplishing 2 things: I can watch Sunday night baseball without having to mute the broadcast, and sparking my hatred of the Sox again. Thank you Larry Lucchino!

As I have stated several times I HATE THE SOX YANKS BS. If this thread ever turns into baseball talk I'll be back but as long as it's SOX SUK JETER IS GAY I am all set.

We will have to agree to disagree on which collapse was worse. They were both bad and will be talked about for a long time but being one win away from the WS against your biggest rival and not closing the door is a big deal. If the situation was reversed I'd be saying the same thing.

raydog As a Yankee fan, I can unequivocally state the Yanks collapse in '04 was worse; probably the worst collapse in sports history. It was painful to watch, knowing there wasn't one pitcher to count on to come up clutch. I've tried to black it out from memory.

:::extends olive branch:::

It's all in good fun...it's the best rivalry in sports...sure it lost a lot of it's luster in 04...but it's still there on some sort of level...smack talk just goes with the rivalry...

In all honesty though, I think the Sox will finish in third...behind Yanks and Rays...Yanks starting rotation got stronger by adding a few arms and dumping Burnett...they always had the hitting and relief pitching...it's a long season and many things can happen...I'm just feeling good about the Yanks this year...As a Yanks fan to a sox fan...I say good luck sir on your upcoming season...
