me_no_are_no_nice_guy to hire Phish for a private gig? I'd also like to write the setlist, will pay top dollar.

TheBag 5000$ per minute of jamming. They'll play possum over and over for free.

My guess? Randomly? Out of season when they are not touring? For them to ditch their families and come play you a private show?

$1-5 Mil.

johnnyd Do you have house sound, or is it a small gig that they will play through their personal gear/monitors/etc.
i.e. do they need the full soundboard setup?
Full light show?

I would bet bare bones, without the huge infrastructure, maybe 100K plus travel and rider.

All I'm providing is the stage. They should treat it as a normal show. It's not really phish to me without CK5.

Good point. maybe not write it, but give some "suggestions". also a "DO NOT PLAY" list.

Maybe a very generous donation to some of their favorite charities would motivate them.

If I win $540 Million, having Phish at my house becomes my choice.

It's what we call "can't say no money".

WasteOfTime It sounds kinda awesome initially but I'd feel like such a tool having Phish play a private show. Like the Eric Cartman amusement park episode.

Face+fees and 20,000 friends.

Or at my favorite local venue with my actual friends, and their actual friends. It'd be a time.

It's not like I'm going to have them in my living room playing while I eat cheesy poofs.

icculus23 I had a friend that bought an old theatre a couple years ago(pre-2009 reunion). He was starting to look into booking and had a site that had it all listed. Panic was towards the top at 80k a night, umphreys and galactic were around 5-8k.

With panic at 80, I'd put a private phish gig at 250 or a standard gig at 100k

WGphan92 love all the enthusiasm here but im gonna be the debbie downer that says phish wont do a private gig.. period..even for a gazillion dollars. thats just the way they are morally (im guessing). there more into Sharing in the groove.... unless were talking a hugeeee private event, like 5,000+ people, and maybe if it was some some charitable cause... other than that, it ain't gonna happen.

not even sure if OP was seriously proposing this question, or just talking speculation/curiosity what it'd be. lol

Really? Nobody is dumb enough to turn down say $50 million. Even if it just were to turn it over to charity (as phunky mentioned). Don't know what moral standard is being broken by playing my living room. I'm not a bad guy. They might even have a good time. That logic doesn't make sense to me. There's about 300 nights a year they have free to do this. They don't need to share themselves with 20K everytime they tune up.

I think it's at least $50 per possum, so they can cover Jeff Holdsworth's commissions

Punchyouinthejejunum I interned at RLM for a tiny little bit, so I have a bit of an idea. Believe it or not I actually asked this question one time to Pat Jordan and he said: "Man, I don't even know...(pause) a DAMN lot, I can tell you that. A DAMN lot." It was said with a considerable amount of umph, so based on the going rate for such a thing, factoring in they are also a band, not just a famous dude and his guitar, and you say you want the full touring production, which for this type of thing, subtracting tour managers, and the like, ~20 people, prob gonna run you at least 3+ million for them to even answer the phone, to tell you the truth. Not to mention another considerable sum for local crew to load in/out, and if you sell tix and have an "event", there are still close to a million in associated costs. Can I ask, will you be paying with Mega Millions winnings?

Harry__Hood95 This is semi-but not really-related. About 15 years ago (1998ish) my fraternity was hosting our annual spring fundraiser/concert and we called Widespread Panic just to see what it would cost for them to come out. I think they said it would be in the neighborhood of $30K just for them to come play.

Drgordy Permalink
Drgordy some of your estimates of costs for production, crew, managers, etc... to load up a show are outrageous. Think about how much it costs them to play a show at an indoor arena. By your cost estimates they wouldn't be able to cover expenses through ticket sales. Let's say a 15,000 capacity arena sells out at $60 a ticket, that's only $900,000.

Punchyouinthejejunum ^exactly. It's a bit of a different animal. They would charge much more for that than for a show at a dedicated concert venue, which runs as a well oiled machine. I might be over-estimating tho, ur right. If this were actually real, better to over-estimate and have more money, and then the bill is less than expected than to not have enough.
