Woke up an hour ago, thought I'd come down and have a little time to myself before the woman wakes up. Doggie blew up my spot though, woke her up and she came down looking at me all suspicious like i was up to no good...

I fell asleep during the game last night but Greg tells me the Rangers lost. Sorry, @GrooveHolmes. What happened?? Yikes!

Happy May 1st!! I'm officially into the countdown of my last month at my job. Woohoo!! It's rainy and dreary out but it's not gonna get me down!

Come at me, Tuesday!

mfhgreyboy Good morning all! Hope with the kiddos today (in-service day). Very rainy and yucky day to have to entertain children for an entire day, but we will figure something out. Possibly some Mother's Day shopping. Possibly a trip to the frame store. I have SBIXx2, NYE, Camden '11 (and a few others that I'm in less of a rush to get done) to get on the walls.

Sorry @GrooveHolmes, congrats @Jayem. Really good game last night. I thought the Caps were in trouble when NY tied it up. Wicked shot by Ovie. Congrats to @Phlat_Brim_kid as well. Flyers West (I mean LA) looks really good.

Go Flyers (East)!

Raining like crazy here, this wasn't supposed to start til tomorrow. Oh well. I did follow @Phlat_Brim_Kid's single vote and split wood for a while last night, that doesn't look like its gonna happen again for a few days.

Then went to this newish little wine bar in Waterbury with a friend, that was a good time. And got into some Junta vinyl after that. As advertised. Wow.

Already caught like 4 unintentional double-entendres this morning between radio and in-person. Including one woman asking be to show her where the back door is. Gonna be that kinda day I guess.

Also - striking news: More babies than ever before are being born with symptoms of drug withdrawal. Horrible. But wait til you hear the cause, as reported on NPR: More pregnant women are using drugs. Now that is some mighty fine research and reporting.

Ideas for Mother's Day gifts? Anyone got something?

I don't like to think about pregnant women abusing their unborn children. That just makes me sick.

My mom makes Mother's Day (which is always the same weekend as her birthday - double whammy) easy for me. We go out for dinner and I take her shopping so she can pick out clothes or shoes or whatever she wants. We spend the time together and she gets cool stuff.

Will you see your mom for Mother's Day?

I'm going to go with.....not drugs?

Actually, Mother's Day shopping is tough. My wife is a "pick out her own jewelry" type of girl - so that's out. Not sure what I'm going to get. Thinking of taking a stroll through the mall with the kids for inspiration. What IS cool is that Quinn is old enough this year to actually try and pick out something for her mom by herself (in addition to the "hey look what I made" stuff from school), which I think will be fun.

bostonron GM.N! I'M Wrecked after a long night of work. But I feel great. I just wanted to chime in on the Mother's Day gifts. Flowers and a card. Nothing too fancy is really needed. Just something to let Mom know you're thinking of her. If you can pull off a visit/dinner, even better. Mom doesn't need/want expensive gifts to know you love her. With moms, it truly is the thought that counts (ewww, cheese fest in that comment). With all that said, I'm off to bed. Have a good day, clowns. Peace.

Paul's Boutique no doubt.

I wouldn't mind having a slightly longer commute than I do now, would give me more solo music time. Current commute is 1.81 miles.

My suggestion is that if you're going to buy clothes for your wife, you peek at her sizes in her closet before making any purchases. This will avoid awkward situations like I had on Christmas morning when my husband insisted that I wear a large and bought me a size large shirt. (I wear a small or sometimes X-small in some cases.)

I don't. Have never really explored distilling since I'm not much of a liquor / booze guy. My go to homebrew shop used to sell a small stainless still used for "essential oils" and what not but of course could be used for spirits.

I did a website check and they no longer carry it apparently.

I'm sure you guys will do your homework but be careful when distilling spirits.

I'm sure I'll do fine, but women's clothes sizing is so strange to me. Especially jeans.

And everything seems to be different. A medium here might be a small over here.

Just be sure to get a gift receipt or whatever in case she needs to return it.

This happens to me all the time with my Dad especially. I'm a big girl but I used to be bigger. About 7 years ago, I lost about 70 lbs and dropped 3 dress sizes. My father is all about getting me t-shirts from my alma mater and for years after I shrunk continued to buy them in XXL (which would've have been too big even if I hadn't lost weight). They were practically minidresses on me. It was only this past Christmas that he remembered to get a L instead of XXL and even then after I opened it he was skeptical - "I hope it fits." Yeesh.

This is so true. For a long time, I've been a proponent that women's pants should be sized the same way as men's pants, by waist size and length. I've noticed that some companies are starting to do this now. I think they shied away from it because it's damaging to some women's egos to see a size 30 on her pants or whatever. But really, it's better than the arbitrary numbering system currently in place. And we might all end up with clothes that fit us better if we shop by our true size.

I think H&M sizes women's pants that way, it threw Brit off.
