dkast85 I think it was either YEM in the two spot on 12/29/11 or Theme opener on 5/28/11.

What ya got!?

callmethesloth Permalink
callmethesloth The “Horse~less“ SITM at the S show felt pretty out of place I thought, same with the aforementioned Free 12/28 opener and 12/29 YEM in the 2 spot. Also I do have to say at SBIX that Bug was very poorly placed IMHO

Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, Darien Center, NY

Set 1: Nellie Kane, Mellow Mood, Buffalo Bill, Kill Devil Falls, Wolfman's Brother, Rift, Undermind, Ride Captain Ride, It's Ice > Dog Faced Boy, Brian and Robert > 46 Days, Limb By Limb, Character Zero

Set 2: Golden Age > Mike's Song > Fast Enough for You > Weekapaug Groove[1], What's the Use? > Theme From the Bottom > Backwards Down the Number Line > Also Sprach Zarathustra[2] > Harry Hood

Encore: Good Times Bad Times

[1] Golden Age teases.
[2] Golden Age, Happy Birthday, and What's the Use? teases.

Notes: Weekapaug contained Golden Age teases. Also Sprach Zarathustra contained Golden Age, Happy Birthday and What's the Use? teases. In the soundcheck (which was played on Kevin Shapiro's From the Archives #15(b) show on 7/1/11 from SBIX), Funky Bitch contained alternate lyrics, Dream On contained a brief Stairway to Heaven tease and "Old Zealand" alternate lyrics, and The Pendulum had Two Princes quotes.

the second set is just full of weirdness

I loved the Forbin's opener but for me the odd placement or rather what seemed like to derail the whole energy of the second set from that night was the sleep> Buffalo Bill coming out of a fun Makisupa. Just didn't feel right and when you relisten to it Trey even seems a bit uncomfortable. Thank God Golgi through the end brought back the energy of that second set.

I think the complete opposite. First set was pretty good (Sand, Divided, Vultures)

2nd set was pretty meh. Piper was absolutely excellent, but then it went downhill. It was rock and roll song after rock and roll song. Don't get me wrong I like Julius and Golgi, but as set closers, not in the middle of a 2nd set. Bowie picked things back up, but by that point it felt like I was at a sing along show.
