earth_bound_misfit the lot is made of some the larger rocks that you will see all summer so chose your footware carefully.

Agreed. I'm from the Pittsburgh area and I've seen MANY shows at Star Lake / Post Gazette / First Niagara / Whatthehellevertheywillcallitthissummer. The rocks are hardcore. Socks and sturdy shoes recommended. Flip flops = bloody heels.

But I will say that the security is somewhat lax and there are plenty of wooded areas to hide if ya need it. Shakedown usually isn't super awesome though. If you want that, go to Blossom :)

benevolution This is also my first time seeing Phish at Star Lake. My girlfriend insisted on paying for the "VIP" parking section. Personally I don't mind waiting an hour to get out of the lot, but she was willing to spend the extra money. I was originally going to show up at around 12:30 but now I hear the lots won't be open til 2:30 (?). I am dead-set on getting myself a print for this show, which means getting there early, but now I don't know how early is too early... anyone know?

mikefreed I don't think the rocks are that bad. its definitely a rocky, dusty lot with not as much grassy areas to hang out in as other venues

but bloody heals ? lol

maybe if finch460 hits you in the head with his pipe, and drags you through the lots caveman style then you probably would have bloody heals. but I think that just normal walking around etc you should be fine.

Alcohol and Tailgating is OK but security is what it is, some are cool, and some have fun being dicks, while others are somewhere in between. Its always best to play it safe.

In 09 it seemed like there was not much vending going on but I never did make it to the top lot next to the entrance. Lot was so much fun in 97 live band on a flat bed etc. Gas and convenience store close by as well as camping and a state park.

And the lots probably dont open until 2:30 that sounds right. If you get there early go to http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/findapark/raccooncreek/ and hike around or have a picnic, maybe nap under a tree.

Lat time we showed up at 1 and they were letting people in. I would not worry about it. For the prints, as long as you are in fairly early you should have no problem.

Yeah, I never know whether to take a venue's opening times seriously. From what I can tell, it seems like if enough people show up early they have little choice but to open the lots up, regardless of scheduled time.

Dan615 Went in 09 and things seemed pretty chill. It's not Deer Creek or anything when it comes to shakedown, but a good vibe for sure. The only thing that threw me off are that there are security towers throughout the lot with guys posted in them looking down on everyone in the lot. Did not see them really hassling anyone, but I had never seen that at a venue and haven't since.

Security there definitely hates underagers. Seen a lot of people get underage drinking citations there, but this shouldn't be a problem for most

I also want a print for this show..If your going in at 2:30 to get a print would you stay in the venue the entire show? Can you leave and come back if you go early enough? I wanna get in and get my poster but i don't wanna sit around in the venue all day with my thumb up my ass lol

heres another tip, dump out the bag and break up all of them, then use a folded piece of paper to funnel the fineness back into its satchel... blow the residuey remainders..

easy key bumpage.

please disregard this post as it is highly f***ed up.

I'm puzzled. The need to get into the lot early suggests that prints are sold outside of the venue (a la Alpine). Is that the case? Or are you planning to line up to get into the venue as soon as the lot opens (Phish.com states 'Doors Open: 6:00 pm')?

This is my first time trying to get a print so I'm not sure, but my best guess is that the prints are sold AT the venue but outside of the gates, most likely near the box office and will-call window.

no you would buy your print outside the venue, stash it in your car and chill in the lot, thumbs up asses optional.
