As a boy listening to Dr. Demento shows, I enjoyed listening to an L.A. street singer named Wild Man Fischer. Several years later in my 20s, I tried to describe Fischer to a friend of mine who worked at a record (vinyl) store. He replied, "you mean like Wesley Willis?" and proceeded to play "Rock and Roll McDonalds" for me. After recovering from hysterical laughter, I conceded that Wesley Willis was the evolution of Wild Man Fischer.

Wesley's catalog features some of the best headphones-required "KMA" songs ever recorded - very cathartic. And even though his songs are strictly formulaic, they work because of his charisma and performance.
