The caption under the youtube video says that there were two people in the audience. can that be correct?I'd love to see a show where there were only two people in the audience.
Mid-late 1980s - people used to see Phish because there was a keg there. When the pizza and beere were gone, so was the audience. No glow sticks, nobody paying over face, no cellphones. Man, those were great shows
@Slothberries said:I'm pretty sure that is correct. This Tela was on From the Archives and I remember either the band or Shapiro saying there were only 2 people in the audience. Nice, old style Tela. The caption under the youtube video says that there were two people in the audience. can that be correct?I'd love to see a show where there were only two people in the audience.
my first show in 91 at the bar at northwestern university had maybe 100 people. that's being generous. my group of friends didn't come for a keg, but we did come because our buddy was bartender and we got nickel pitchers. no one in that room had ever heard of phish. that's for sure.

do you remember anything about the show? did you even enjoy it?
They were a bar band, and also played prep school and college parties. Dozens in the audience. They covered GD tunes, and the only things that circulated were bad live audience tapes, bootleg White Tape and bootleg Junta copies. But they were ways running around the northeast, so you knew their name.
Then came the 90s. The GD were still amazing to see until about 1991, so Phish just chugged along as "that band." When they started touring nationwide around 1991, everybody had heard of them and wanted to see them. The rest is phishstory
