question about ethics of selling extras

i have extras for both tonight (1) and tomorrow. i really would like to recoop some of the money i spent, and i figure face value is fair. but what's the usual deal? i don't want to be a dick asking for a lot of money. how does it usually work on the lot?

ps, if you want my ticket, send me a pm. im going to be driving, but i'll check in when i get there about 6-6:30, if anyone has messaged me, we can exchange numbers or work something out. same for tomorrow night

Face value is what you should offer it for. Asking for more is frowned upon and a dick move, as you can probably imagine.

what he said ^ basically, if it's not a sold out show, or you don't have pavs, you might have a tough time getting what you paid for them. good rule of thumb, extras usually go for around $10-20 less than face if it's not a tough ticket...

My humble opinion, If you "need" money get what you need.

If you can give it up and not hurt, do it man. Give someone a miracle, it'll come back to you 10 fold.

Be careful if you're trying to hold out for more money. There's a chance you will end up giving it away if you don't find any takers or turn down people offering less than face. I've had to give away tickets before. It's good on karma but a bummer on the wallet. Good luck out there!

I've got 2 extra lawns for tonight. I'll be giving them to the first 2 people I see looking for tix. Nothing beats giving em away. In the long run, the $20 you might get isn't gonna make or break you.

^ been on the other side of this, 6/11/11, ran into a dude in the elevator, offered us two ptbm's for 50 each, tried to talk him down to 80 for the pair... he wasn't having it, so we ended up having to pay face at the box office... and got shitty livenation stubs...

Try to sell them fast, like as soon as you get to the lot if possible. The closer to showtime the less they will be worth

Sell them in traffic before you even park. Lots of people want their ticket problems solved right away so they can get on to fun and chill time, anticipating actually going to the show.

Not to mention it won't give people a chance to get to the lot and see just how many tickets are available. The only drawback is that you look like a scalper.

I agree with trying to sell it early, but try to walk around a little bit first and hear what people are asking/offering to get a sense of the market.

We sold our Portsmouth extra for $35 which I thought was good considering you sometimes can't get $10 even at Portsmouth which always sells out. But after hearing a few other transactions I realized that this year the going price was near face so we could have gotten more of our money back. It was a PTBM too.

I ended up getting $50 per ticket, which was cool with me. I really am uncomfortable negotiating/bargaining with people. I like when i can sell it on ebay and the price is already decided upon and i just meet the person there and hand them a ticket. if someone tries to talk me down, i'd probably just walk away, i'm not assertive enough to push back. but the first night, a guy was asking for extras, i said i had one, he asked how much, i said something like "50 sound fair?" and he was fine with it. but it really makes me uncomfortable. i'm not generous enough for a miracle, but i'm not greedy enough to try and drive the price up.
anyway, thanks again everybody, much appreciated. this was my first attempt at selling tix on the lot.

Face plus fees is the fair asking price. Face less fees is a better deal. The closer the show gets ask for less. better to get some back then all. Better to sell for 20 bucks a tic then give them away for free to some dirty wook looking to get a free ride.

also if you like to partake of alcohol or other fun stuff and you have a friend how will drive you there and bank who isn't so much interested but will go if the tick is free, its way better to just give it up take the ride and not have a chance of a dui, owi, dwi or what ever they call it in the state you are in. But seriously if i was 10 min before the show and offered it for 20 and no one took me up on it i would rather just keep the ticket instead of giving it to a cheapskate looking for a miracle.

yeah, i'm kind of torn with the idea of a "miracle", whether i'm really helping someone out, or just helping a freeloader who never had any intention of paying for anything get in. i do not like that. i spent my hard earned money for this ticket, so if you just bummed a ride up here hoping to get in for free, TS. I need to find someone a bit down on their luck at the moment and give it to them, not some cheap bastard

In my opinion if they don't even offer you ten they are freeloading. If you are really serious about seeing them you should offer something up even if it's a trade of some sort if they arent willing to give something up they are looking for a hand out. I would never give a tic up for free unless it was to a friend. I am sure this makes me sound like a dick but...seriously if you are that hard up you never would have made it to the venue.

I attempted to miracle 3 people outside of AC,... None of them wanted to come inside,..... The 4 person who actually did come in acted as though he DID me a favor.... 8-/
