Back in the 70s, this crazy hippy guy created 'real' unicorns by surgically modifying baby goats. He tried to patent the process, I'm not sure if he got it. But he recieved a contract with a circus to show off the 'unicorns' he made.

Here's a picture of him and his wife and his 'unicorn', Lancelot.

My theory on this is that Phish shows are our conventions. Just like the My Little Pony community, we have a message board where we discuss our passion throughout our daily lives, and a few times a year, we all congregate somewhere in real life for a shared appreciation of what it is we're interested in.
