Rating Unrated Shows, #30: Not Shows

Lemuria There's of course less impetus to rate these than "actual shows", but since there are only eight (and all unrated "actual shows" have been suggested for rating already)....

This week, the only 8 performance entries in the database that aren't actually "shows" (for statistical and related purposes) and are also unrated:

From the history page for I Am Hydrogen:

For “Hydrogen” the single life was short-lived, however, and it soon found itself paired with the Trey composition "Who Do? We Do!" (which eventually wound up in "Fluffhead" ;) for the next year. The four instances of this pairing that we know of, all occurring in 1987, feature the "Hydrogen" we all know and love followed by a brief jam that resembles the end of "The Curtain With" before seamlessly segueing into "Who Do? We Do!". Check out 8/29/87 for the most fully realized example of this pairing ("Hydrogen With," if you will). While it's unclear whether the versions featuring this transitional jam represent the four most "jammed-out" versions of "Hydrogen" or are instances of an abandoned prologue jam to "Who Do? We Do!", what does seem clear is that the band was less than satisfied with the pairing. If “Hydrogen’s” first marriage (to “Who Do? We Do!”) was one of convenience, “Hydrogen’s” second (polygamous) marriage would be for love. "Hydrogen" would not make another appearance (that we know of) until nearly nine months later, but, when it did, it assumed its now familiar position between “Mike’s Song” and “Weekapaug Groove”. What Icculus joined together (on 7/23/88 – in Vermont, not Utah) no man would put asunder…for six years anyway.
This is saying the first pairing of Mike's-Hydrogren-Weekapaug was on 7/23/88. But the Ernest Anastasio Demos which you have linked to here, from 6-87, contains a studio version of the same trio of songs. Is the date on the demo incorrect, or does the history page need revision?

I think the answer is (a) we can't be sure of the date on the demos and (b) even if we were, there is a distinction between live and studio performances. But the date of the demos seems suspect, at least with respect to the Mike's Groove. For one thing, it would require us to believe that the band wrote and played Weekapaug Groove in the studio in June 87, but would not play the song live for over a year later. Seems unlikely, given the size if their repertoire at the time.

On 8/10/04, Trey said they "probably" wrote Weekapaug in 87 on the way back from a gig in Weekapaug in 87, but given the minimal number of shows they played outside VT in 87, this is probably wrong, too. It was almost certainly sometime in early to mid 88, if I had to guess, sometime around the 5/8/88 show in Norwalk, CT. It is odd, though that no one has ever been able to pin down the date of that gig.

TheEmu @Lemuria - The only working link I see to a ratable setlist is for Wendell Studios. The Geodome, Bearsville, and Waldorf Astoria links just go to the most recent setlist, and the other four have no link. Where do we go to rate these?

Go to the "Phish Setlists" link at the top of the page. Click the link to the right for the year containing the date in question. Scroll down to that date. Click that date. Click & rate!

Go to the "Phish Setlists" link at the top of the page. Click the link to the right for the year containing the date in question. Scroll down to that date. Click that date. Click & rate!
I am guessing the Waldorf Astoria one is supposed to be 3/15, I see that. I don't see Bearsville or Fishman's Geodome anywhere on the setlist page for '98 or '93, respectively. Do you see them? If so, can you post the permalink?
