but he didnt even get the quote right.....

"You cant have any meat before you eat your pudding"- Trey

And Guy Forget from last year is just a common Trey lick. You hear it in pretty much every 97-98 concert. The Arizona Guy Forget is completely different sounding.

I liked the Light/C&P mashup at AC2

Thunder @MARCO_ESQUAND0LAS - I'm with you. They were straight out playing Guy Forget (without singing obviously) for awhile there during Boogie On. That would be my fav un-noted tease of the tour as well.

ledzepmaster That isn't Guy Forget, it's just a Trey lick..

Anyways, I'm going with Bader Bowie.

yeah... that's not a tease, it's a quote. teases are musical, quotes are verbal.

i like your enthusiasm though :)

Agreed. Trey could not wait to try and slip that in every chance he got...maybe a little too often. You could tell he was having fun.

Thunder Permalink
Thunder I pulled into the Red Roof Inn in Mansfield before the show last year. There was an SUV next to us with the doors open, tunes raging. I got out and in less than 10 secs said something like "hey, that's the Guy Forget jam from the Phoenix 2000 Piper." Buddy was just mesmorized I spotted a tune in the middle of a jam like that. Heard the same thing in the Dick's Ghost last year and the same thing in Worcester Boogie On. I said to my buddy @colinw during the jam at the show, "hey man, they're pretty much playing Guy Forget without singing it", he tells me the next day there was a bunch of people on .net and elsewhere saying the same thing. It's such an abstract tune anyways. I've also mentioned here on .net that I heard it during the Oswego '99 Piper. Not that I knew Guy Forget at the time, cause it had never been played (outside of soundchecks until Phoenix '00), but when relistening to the Oswego Piper, it struck me that it had an eerily similar feel to the Phoenix '00 Piper/Guy Forget that I had heard (and seen thanks to Live in Vegas '000 dvd). Regardless, I think it's a tough call to say yay or nay because of how abstract of a tune it actually is, probably why it's gone officially un-noted. Great minds can disagree and can hear music differently, but if you have time maybe give it another listen (as well as Phoenix '00 and Oswego '99 Pipers), curious to hear what you think of them all @ledzepmaster, since you seem pretty sure that "that isn't Guy Forget".

You can check that that Oswego Piper thread here

Listen again...to the music before the quote.

And someone mentioned he messed up the quote, I personally could care less. That whole segment was mindblowing then and still does the trick every time i press play.

Keep in mind this is a "favorite" thread not a "best" thread...and any Floyd trumps in my book.

5:53 - 6:17 Listen here

Mike is actually playing this same riff before Trey even does the Wall quote, you can hear this in the previous clip (you can also see Trey discussing this with Mike before any of it happens in mkdevo's video). He also goes back in to it after this clip fades.

Knew it was gonna be a good tour after the opening show at DCU. Cool teases throughout show starting with the buried alive teas in runaway Jim. Then the second set with the Norwegian wood in taste an the guy forget in boogie on. the buried alive reprise was cool as hell also. Cant remember last time phish teased so many songs in a tour thinkin maybe 93? It's great trey played so many different ones instead of just streets of Cairo.
