I'm looking for people's opinion on the best soundchecks as far as them just goofing off and interacting
Superball is definitely one of my favorites but I still think the clifford ball soundcheck is number 1. The clifford ball in general is number 1I like the Clifford Ball check a lot too. They're all worth checking out.
@stedman24 Shows that include soundchecks are noted on the spreadsheet.
Ya I was just seeing if anyone knew certain good ones like darian lake is pretty sick

Everything you could ever want is here. tons of crazed jamming and weird made up songs. Attack on the Bass mofo.

Well this is the best thing ever..thank you
im lovin the glens falls soundcheck from 10.31.94. they start off and it sounds almost like a 'the band' song, then they just go off. somewhat blues-y but still very phish-y. seems like sound checks are a great place for the band to let loose a little without the pressure of the crowd. like someone said in another thread, i cant imaging what their studio jams sound like.

Phish - 9.14.11 Essex Junction Soundcheck
Jam (13:00)
Midnight Confessions
Ginseng Sullivan
Silent Night (on Theremin)
“Too Much Fried Dough at the Fair” ->
Peaches en Regalia
Cannonball tease
Jam (6:00)
Some gems from the soundcheck:
•Trey discussing tripping balls on Christmas morning
•Trey mentions that the vacuum and theremin sound the exact same, and they should do a duet. Page says, “good idea.”
•Jam #1. Where the hell is this at shows? As Gordo said when it finished, “Please email that to me.” Seriously. So disgusting. Let it rip like this, gentlemen!
the IT soundcheck (jam> skin it back, jam) is very solid as well & along with some of the deeper type II stuff (46 days, ghost, the jam between waves & bowie) compliments the tower jam nicely
that compilation is pretty sick & covers a good deal of ground. there's still more out there so keep on digging
party at the lamppost? jugglers with fire...
wish they'd play this outside of TAB. also wish a bunch of MGB songs made their way to the phish stage
7/6/07 check
For jamz, Bethel Waves, /thread.
Soundcheck: Live and Let Die Jam, 007 Theme Jam, Windora Bug (with alternate “Carini” lyrics), Funky Bitch

That's what studio jams sound like my friend. I wish they would release more, I would pay the price of a show download for some hidden studio gems
this is exactly what i was looking for, only you did all the work for me. well done sir @TwiceBitten said:

I'm also partial to the 8/14/98 Lemonwheel check "...and it had no bone."
Scents and Subtle Sounds soundcheck from 7/15/03 is one of the best I've heard. has an almost spooky intro and an amazing jam clocking in at around 25 minutes. you can download from the SaSS jamming chartYes! I like this one even more than the Bethel 5/26/11 Waves. Absolute mind-frick!!!
I'm also partial to the 8/14/98 Lemonwheel check "...and it had no bone."
On the lines of pure music, not goofing off:
8/1/03 IT soundcheck is great. Also, not really a soundcheck but the 8/15/98 Lemonwheel "Ambient Jam" is incredible. 52 minutes of beauty.

The Bethel waves is insane but the Island tour Providence sound check is the best I've ever heard. BOAF, Providence jam and Shafty are 35 minutes of bliss.AND included on the livephish CD!!! OH YEAH!
The Big Cypress soundcheck was killer. I wrote a review awhile back (see the review section for 12.29.99).
The IT soundcheck was incredible as well ... still remember rolling thru Limestone getting our minds blown on the car radio to it!

5 Disc Soundcheck comp
it's a CD-length collection of my favorite NON-FESTIVAL soundchecks, recorded between 1993 and 2000. the tracklist:
1) Glen Falls Jam (10/31/94, with Star Wars 'Luke & Leia Theme' tease from Trey)
2) Arcata Jam >
3) Dog Log > Jam (3/28/93, with full-band 'Beverly Hills Cop' theme tease)
4) Miss You >
5) Take Me To The River (4/9/93, with Can't You Hear Me Knocking ending)
6) Vancouver Jam >
7) Leprechaun >
8) The Wedge (8/24/93, original Wedge arrangement... the jam sounds like a proto-Meat)
9) The Buffalo Soundcheck Song! (9/14/00)

especially Lemonwheel. mmmmmm....
Everything you could ever want is here. tons of crazed jamming and weird made up songs. Attack on the Bass mofo.Anyone else having trouble with the links? For some reason I can't get discs 1,2, or 3 to give me the option to download - but had no problem getting a working DL for discs 4 & 5.

Might be the network I'm on...might be voodoo?
the checks bring out everything i love about phish. no pressure, goofing around, extended grooves. It's like a taste of what they must do when it's just them.
Starship Trooper Jam from fest 8 is something that I have really been loving recently as well.
EssexYou are right on! This is one of the best soundchecks. I feel like these jams could re-appear on Phish's new album with some added structure.
Maybe cuz i was there, and I just popped a beer, and the cow shit was in the air, and I was really happy to hear it

- Providence Soundcheck 04/03/1998 (sick drums and bass)
- Buffalo Soundcheck 9/14/2000 (funny made-up lyrics over a solid groove)
- Glens Falls Soundcheck 10/31/1994 (smoooooooth)
- Spooky Soundcheck 8/13/1996 (this one is also awesome but im running out of synonyms for "good"
I started a thread with a ton of Soundchecks in it.Thanks. Nice rainbow trout by the way...is that one you hooked?
It's here if your interested...
@MrJones said:So no, I didn't hook that bad boy. Good call on the Rainbow ID. A few people have called it as a steelhead on the .net but it is in fact a rainbow. A fine example if ever there was one... That said I am a bit of an obsessive fly angler. You?I started a thread with a ton of Soundchecks in it.Thanks.
