Strangefolk Reunion Tronz-site
Any of you nutty netters attending this magnificent event?
IF YOU DON'T KNOW THIS BAND CHECK THEM OUT. GREAT MUSIC. GREAT LYRICS. AWESOME PEOPLE. DO IT.I AGREE WITH THE USE OF CAPITALS TO GET THIS POINT ACROSS!!!!!!
Seriously these guys are amazing, I am so happy they have reunited. I have not had a chance to catch any reunion shows as, until recently, I have been living on the west coast. Nothing better to make me feel like I am home again than a Strangefolk show.
I'll be there on the 24th as well. Cant bleepin wait!
At some point, we need to stop calling these gigs reunion shows.I agree completely.

@Jimmymac03 said:Yup. I feel Strangefolk will never be full time again to be honest. I think they all moved on and have a lot of other things going for them in their lives. I know John is fairly successful doing something with the wine industry in northern Cali. Santa Rosa I think? Obviously Reid has AOD. Not sure about the other guys. I think between that kind of stuff plus family stuff they will never have time to be a full time touring band again.@FinMcCool said:I agree. I expect we will keep getting a few runs a year though. Which is wonderful. So happy they are back n it.
Fun fact ... Strangefolk has a GOOD song named Alaska. Take notes Phish.
Hey! i'm just getting into Strangefolk, and I really would like to go to this show. The only one I currently have on my iTunes is The Garden of Eden Festival (Haystack Mountain) on 2002-09-01. Can anyone suggest another? Not that that show isn't AMAZING, I just would like more.Welcome to the wonderful world of Strangefolk my friend!
IMO, 1997 is to Strangefolk what 1997 is to Phish. Archive.org has TONS of great stuff. Feel free to search out nearly any show for some quality listening. In this era Jon and Reid were both playing acoustic. Jon had some nice effects going on though so he could shred and you would have no idea he was playing an acoustic guitar unless you saw him. He did wind up switching to electric (not sure exactly when) but I personally preferred the double acoustic assault.
Here are a couple of my favorite shows I caught:
Strangefolk Live at Higher Ground on 2000-02-25
Strangefolk Live at addison county fairgounds, garden of eden on 2000-09-02
Strangefolk Live at addison county fairgounds, garden of eden on 2000-09-03
The second show, was their Garden of Eden fest they did every year, this on obviously 2000. This was maybe the best weekend of my life. It was bitter sweet as we all knew Reid had decided to leave the band to go back to school and finish his degree, but we raged anyway. The acid was REALLY good too
I will post some more recommendations as they come back to me. I am sooooooo excited for the reunion shows this November. I will be there Sat night.
Sweet Matrix. No vocals in the beginning if I remember, but they get it fixed before the first song is over.
There were a few netters at this show, pretty sure there was a thread about the scene and such.

brookdale lodge is not only haunted, but you can't shoehorn 200 hundred people into it, if that many!!!
/those were the days (in peculiar ways)
Can't wait, only 2 weeks away.
I'll be at one of these shows (haven't chosen which one yet), I don't know much about Strangefolk, but what i've heard is magnificent. How's the scene? And how much do they jam?I haven't seen them since around '00-'01 when Reid left the band. I hear the seen is a bit older and a bit tame. Probably the same crowd they had back then but all grown up. You won't get 20 min psychedelic jams but they def jam.

I'll be there Saturday!

@JordanThePhisherman So you going to either of the shows? I will be there tomorrow. Might miss the beginning but I REALLY want to catch Al from .moe's opening set. One of my favorite tapes back in the day was a solo Al show from some cruise he was on in the mid 90s. I would love to get a little flavor of that.Yeah, so it works out that I'll be going tommorow...I might have to miss some of the beginning goodness, which will be a bummer for me. Does Al play acoustically? moe. songs? What does he do for his set. I think it is great that he will be opening for them, even though that I might have to miss it. But hopefully that will not happen.
The story I heard when I got the tape was that he was on a cruise with his folks and someone on the cruise staff heard some musician was on board and asked him to perform. How it got taped then I have no idea. Story could be nans, who knows. It was a great show though. I need to find or replace that tape. Shit.
Not sure if you are trying to be surprised tomorrow so just in case... (meaning you don't want to know the songs that will not be played)

Good looking setlist so far. Just hoping they save some songs I am familiar with for tommorow! The only album I know front to back is A Great Long While.
Strangefolk came out at end of his set and played Deal. Now that I wish I had been there for.
Fuck, they played ValhallaI know. Feeling the same way. This set list is like daggers in my soul. I should have taken tonight off work and done both. Oh well, you know tomorrow will be amazing as well. They have a shit load of classics not yet played. I'm feeling a huge Speculator tomorrow.
@JordanThePhisherman said:No matter what happens, tomorrow will be badass. As I was saying, the only album that I truly know is A Great Long While, so songs like Reuben's, Cabin John, Sinner, Stout Hearted will probably be played tomorrow if they are not played tonight.Fuck, they played ValhallaI know. Also, I saw a comment on Facebook that said the place was half empty, hopefully this is not true.. I would be surprised also since they have been promoting these two shows a lot for a while.
Great Long While is their best album IMO. Stouthearted and Cabin John would be sick tomorrow. Good work.
Stout Hearted
Cabin John
Speculator
These are the three I REALLY want.

We stayed at the same hotel as Glockler for the Portland or Burlington show, cant remember, and I overheard someone asking him if this would ever been a full time thing again and he just chuckled and said "We're having fun." But yeah, Jon is in California, Reid has AOD, Glockers up in Maine, not sure what Luke does...but a couple shows a year is better than none.

This video is awesome. Thanks for posting. Need to get more into these guys!
