Question #3 on the Massachusetts Ballot

careful_w_that_axe_Miller Permalink
careful_w_that_axe_Miller There is a law in CA called prop 46, which will require Phish to play 1/5 of their shows west of the great divide.

walstib If history is any indication, Mass and CT seem to mimic each other. MA decriminalized, a year later CT did the same. Then CT went medical, 6 months later Mass has it on the ballot. CT MA and RI will all be medical legal if this passes. Should happen. We're playing catch up but the northeast is coming along.

Dino_Spumoni I hope all 3 questions pass and considering question 2 passed with 65% of the state in favor of decriminalization I would think that those who supported that will also support Q3.
As far as Q2 is concerned, hopefully people will realize that if somebody is terminally ill and is suffering that they should have the right to choose when it's their time to go. Seriously, what's more dignified? Laying in a hospital bed hooked up to a bunch of crap that isn't even helping you or at home or maybe a beach or a park (or any other place you'll be at peace) with the ones that you love? Yeah your family will be with you in the hospital but what would be a better final memory for them? You wasting away just waiting for your demise or in a state of happiness. Understanding that it's your time to go and that you're not just ending your own suffering but also the emotional suffering that is effecting your loved ones.

TheElectricMayhem Massachusetts mailed out voter information guides to all households listing the ballot initiatives and explaining them. It has a section where advocacy groups write a blurb about why they are for or against the measure. The group that's against Question 3 submitted text to the state that mistakenly referred people to the following spoof website. If you hit the home page from that site you can now see an updated version where they've changed their mind and now support the measure. Here's a news story about the whole thing. I'm keeping my 2012 voter information guide for posterity!

Harrynuggs If this does pass, how difficult is it to get a card? I feel like I have a fairly holistic doctor but I'm not sure if they will be handing out cards to people without previous history of chronic pain or illness. Any thoughts on this from holders from other states?

Beantown I'm pretty sure its not going to be " easy " to get a card, it states that it is going to be for people with severe disease and illness, not exactly sure how it is going to play out, but it for sure will be nothing like california or colorado.

Of coarse opiates aren't going away. Doctors get paid big money to prescribe them and millions of people are already addicted to them. And yes they do work, with extreme side effects. But to have an natural alternative for people who don't want to take opiates or pharmaceuticals is great thing
