Colorado Prop 64 - Question

Direzen If this passes today, can I just go shopping tomorrow, or will I have to wait for a while?

MrJones The amendment to the state constitution would be effective immediately. That being said you can not just go out an buy pot at a store.

There is a whole regulatory structure that the state legislature would have to put in place and they are tasked with doing so by July 2013 (there are provisions in place if they do not do this). This does not take into account any federal lawsuits that are likely to come from the justice department.

It is more of a first step to legalization.

I have read the amendment front and back many times so if you have any other questions I would be happy to try to answer them. I just did a two hour radio show a couple weeks ago talking about this.

Edit: Just FYI - It's Amendment 64 not Proposition 64.

Direzen Hey Thanks Mr. Jones,

So if it passes, and the feds don't butt their stupid heads in, and all the stars align. When do you think a 21 and over guy like myself can walk in and go shopping. (You're best ballpark guess).

Hard to say really but assuming everything you mentioned happens you should expect that opportunity in August 2013. Probably earlier if dispensaries are allowed to apply to for a change in retail status before August.

Keep in mind there are a ton of "unknowns" written into the amendment.

John Hickenlooper, who opposed the marijuana measure in his state. “This will be a complicated process, but we intend to follow through. That said, federal law still says marijuana is an illegal drug, so don’t break out the Cheetos or Goldfish too quickly.”

Well done Colorado and Washington!

YorkvilleBeerLover So my buddy has the card and lives in CO.

When I was there for the Broomfield shows he got everything for me - I was not allowed into the Dispenciary.

So my ?

Will this mean anyone can buy weed in gas stations now?
Do you need the Card anymore?

Score: 0

ReadIcculus_ Permalink
ReadIcculus_ It won't be gas stations, still dispensaries, but you will only have to show a drivers license instead of medical marijuana license.

So no he won't need the card here pretty soon, I'd keep renewing if I was him though, just in case

http://www.regulatemarijuana.org/s/regulate-marijuana-alcohol-act-2012

Here is the tricky part - "(c) IN THE INTEREST OF ENACTING RATIONAL POLICIES FOR THE TREATMENT OF ALL VARIATIONS OF THE CANNABIS PLANT, THE PEOPLE OF COLORADO FURTHER FIND AND DECLARE THAT INDUSTRIAL HEMP SHOULD BE REGULATED SEPARATELY FROM STRAINS OF CANNABIS WITH HIGHER DELTA-9 TETRAHYDROCANNABINOL (THC) CONCENTRATIONS."

http://medicalmarijuana.procon.org/view.answers.php?questionID=000637

So now I'm trying to figure out - will the goverment issued johnny be 7% - and you will still have to get the medical if you want 10-20%.

I'm currently enjoying a 18% - no proof Green Crack strain.

ReadIcculus_ How could they possibly regulate thc percentages? There will be a massive amount of stores and strains, from private and public growers. Impossible to do that. Hemp is a different plant all together.

Im all for this, the only thing that is really aggrivating me about the whole thing is your typical stoner is all over the internet posting and shit saying ya road trip to Colorado YAAA when
1. They dont know the revenue that it will regulate
2. They dont know how much money it will save prisons/jails
3. They dont realize the number of jobs legalizing it will regulate
Baiscally everyone who knows nothing and just wants to go there because their stoners are ignorant
