Of course people will be quick to jump on the Went Gin, The Riverport Gin, The Murat gin... but what are some others that are your favorites?
I listened to the 11/07/1996 Gin today and thought it was absolutely incredible.
I really enjoyed the Dick's Disco-ish "Soul Shakedown Gin"
And I love the 6/28/00 Gin. That is pure HOSE.
Thoughts?

Lots of good gins
Most of my faves have been mentioned already. Some 3.0 love goes to 8/7/09 and 5/28/11. One that slips past the radar: 12/15/95, complete with possibly the most interesting rotation jam in Phishtory.
gonna listen to some of these tomorrow at work!
I love me some Bathtub Gin, and I gotta say, I'm a big fan of most of the 3.0 vintage. They all seem to hit amazing peaks, even if they aren't the most exploratory. However, I am most partial to 7/25/2003. First show bias, maybe, but that Gin smokes. I think you might hear more about it if they hadn't gone and played a 28 minute Harry Hood in the second set.True. I guess you could say the same about my first show Gin. If only they hadnt come out for that second set on 8/9/04.
The one from Portsmouth this year is VERY underrated IMO.

The Went Gin will always have a special place in my heart, for numerous reasons. As a straight up jam in retrospect it might not seem as special s it once did, but it was the climax of collective band/fan energy that summer, and if you were there, you know what it's about. Even if you weren't you probably have a good idea. Hose 101.
Otherwise July 97 started with a shorter but smoky version in Amsterdam, and then boasts a triumverate of funky-ass 20 minute versions: 7/10, 7/21, and 7/25, all worth hearing. My personal favourite from that leg (and the funkiest) is the US leg opener on 7/21, which for some reason isn't on the jamming chart (hellllooooo....?). Other than 11/23 (which hasn't aged as well for my tastes, just so much meandering rock out, despite some brilliant moments), not a whole lot else that year of A-quality note. (Nice segue into Foam on 12/6 though).
Summer 98 mirrored the previous year. 7/20 is kind of like an updated version of the July 97 jams, and serves as a warmup for 7/29, which stands as the high point of late 90s funky-dance-party summer Gin. Needs no introduction.
In Fall 98 things take an interesting turn. Instead of the funky dancy stuff with occasional peaks, it gets slicker and groovier. 11/9/98 is one of my favourite Gins for this reason. I love the way Trey takes a hold of this jam and just whittles it down and weaves it up. The glory peaks on the tour-closing 11/29 version are also stellar.
Gin wasn't super strong in Summer 99, and had fallen into a bit of a habitual pattern, but Fall 99 changed that. Great long version on 9/12. Doesn't really explore a lot of directions, but it builds nice and is worth hearing. My other dark horse Gin came on 12/7. Glad to see a few people giving it a nod in this thread, because to me it's one of the band's finest 1999 ambient-groove moments. Like 11/9/98, Trey just has this slick vision right from the get go, only the band is way more equipped to settle under him with a ton of space and texture. I find the Big Cypress version underwhelming.
I'm not super familiar with the 2000 versions, but 6/28 is decent. Not as great as the late 90s stuff to my tastes, but still great.
February 03 has another great trio of twenty-minute versions: 2/14, 2/22, 2/28. All fiery peak-laden gems. Here 'em all in their 2.0 glory.
I also think 8/7/09 deserves mention. Nothing else in 3.0 comes close to it. Lots of layers.
To recap and respond the original post, if I had to pick three slightly more under the radar Gins I'd probably go; 7/21/97, 11/9/98, 12/7/99.
I'm classyDefinitely the go-to, but I need to get into a bottle of Hendrick's.

Not so much vodka, but in a pinch it'll do.
8.7.09 is the only "type II" Gin since August of 2004... it's unbelievably majestic.
