Cities In MA attempting to ban Dispensaries.

Potato_Sacks Read More Here (via. MMJBusinessDaily.com)

6 Cities[Hudson, Malden, Melrose, Reading, Saugus, and Wakefield] are already trying to make it so none of these dispensaries open up in their city/town.

Interesting article, all sorts of different points.

Good thing my city isn't on there.

Google'd after hearing on the radio. Just sourced it.

I'll have you know I get my news from The Onion and only The Onion.

Drgordy I got to say, while it kind of sucks that cities are taking this stance, dispensaries are over priced.

Why pay $350-450 plus an oz when you can find a caregiver selling for $250 or grow it yourself. Dispensaries may have a bigger variety, but a caregiver's bud's quality is just as good.

Jimmymac03 Dispensaries great competition, which reduces prices. In CA I was never upset with pricing. Always fare, Nd I always thought I was getting a good deal. Many places also would have insentives. My favorite place in LA had a point system so every dollar you spent earned you a point and after so many points you would get store credit. They also threw in a free house joint with every purchase. The damn things were huge.

Nothing wrong with dispensaries, you just need to not shop at ones trying to rip you off. They will get the message quick.

regardless of what happens passing question 3 was a turn in the right direction.

The_Mollusk In Colorado, plenty of cities banned dispensaries in their limits...this however was never an issue for anyone. I'm not sure about Mass. MMJ laws, but caregivers were still able to operate in the cities with bans, so all patients still had access to their meds, just without the storefront.

They should just open them all in Worcester.

And be robbed on day one. Yeah.

Drgordy I guess it's different in Maine. State law limits the number of dispensaries in the state. Competition is little to none. They barely have enough supplies for the patients they do serve and aren't accepting new ones.

dpwilljr Legalizing marijuana for recreational use is progress towards the inevitable. One day marijuana will be legal in every state. If you're against decriminalizing marijuana, step out of the way ...you're obstructing progress.
It's time to move towards the future.
Conservatives say they believe in less government intervention, except for certain individual rights.
What an individual chooses to do with their own life or their own body is their own business as long as no one else is hurt.
On a side note, I hope the republican party dies a quick death.
We need to consider new political parties that focus on equal rights, humanism, and the environment.
The world is changing....

chris200w This is not surprising. When possession of less than an ounce was decriminalized in Mass a couple of years ago several towns promptly increased the fine from the standard $100 to $300 or more. Despite its (deserved) reputation as one of the most liberal states in the country, Massachusetts still has plenty of socially conservative people and cultural norms.

Giving people access to marijuana for medical use is clearly something Mass voters want, but you can bet it's going to be implemented in a more cautious, conservative way than, for example, California. I'd be very suprised to see widespread (ab)use of the medical system by recreational users like you see in other states.

Dino_Spumoni I'm still curious about how easy it's going to be to get a prescription. The bill leaves it kinda open to interpretation. First saying specific and serious illnesses (ALS, parkinsons, cancer) and then "other debilitating medical conditions.) What is considered debilitating? Back pains and migraines that are so bad that you can't get outta bed without some MMJ? Anxiety and depression to the point that you can't leave the house without burning a bowl or 2?

The_Mollusk In Colorado it is basically a joke to get your MMJ card. Find a doc who's down, pay like $100 cash, say your back hurts, they fill out some paperwork, and voila la, you're now an MMJ patient. For a while, before the state changed a facet of the law, there were docs that would go to the dispensaries and "diagnose" you with chronic pain and you'd get your temp red card right on the spot.
