careful_w_that_axe_Miller Huh, I think off the top of my head I've heard 3 live, I'd say 12/04/09 was pretty intense, first time at MSG tripping absolute ball sack, yep most psychedilic.

Interesting to note as I look back at shows, I was with this chick and blah blah blah blah blah SPAC2 of this year it finally hit me. Esotericism. Took a while but I caught on

Cypress-If my memory serves me correctly there was a ton of helicopters and air planes flying over head and the stage filled with smoke (well STEAM, I guess) and was glowing red and the music was "Machine" like at the same time-I compare all of my Mike's Song experiences (25) to Cypress!
Score: 3

ledzepmaster Cypress and Hampton '97 are the two that pop in my head.

_________________________ CMAC 2010 was pretty psychedelic. I stubbed my buddy down to the pav at set break and he said something to me during Mike's about going back to the lawn. I said I would head backt ehre after Weekapaug. The next time I looked over he was gone

Civic Center Arena, St. Paul, MN

Set 1: Ya Mar, Sample in a Jar > Divided Sky, The Wedge, Scent of a Mule, Free, Strange Design, My Long Journey Home[1], I'm Blue, I'm Lonesome[1], Chalk Dust Torture

Set 2: Reba[2], Life on Mars?, Cars Trucks Buses, Mike's Song -> Breathe Jam -> Sparkle > Weekapaug Groove, Suzy Greenberg[3] > Crossroads

Encore: Fire

[1] Acoustic.
[2] No whistling.
[3] Unfinished.

Notes: My Long Journey Home and I’m Blue I’m Lonesome were performed acoustic. Reba did not have the whistling ending and Suzy was unfinished.

Score: 2

kipmat Permalink
kipmat I nominate 6/20/95. When they are in the "everybody play as one note" jam, I always seem to find myself questioning my sobriety. It's tough to go wrong with a '95 Mike's Song :)

Once again, I will publicly wish for this Mike's to be featured on a FTA show. It is definitely worthy.

May 03, 1985

University of Vermont, Burlington, VT

Set 1: Slave to the Traffic Light, Mike's Song > Dave's Energy Guide, Big Leg Emma

Set 2: Alumni Blues, Wild Child, Can't You Hear Me Knocking, Jam -> Cities, Bring It On Home[1]

Set 3: Scarlet Begonias > Eyes of the World -> Whipping Post[2] -> McGrupp and the Watchful Hosemasters > Makisupa Policeman[3] > Run Like an Antelope -> The Other One[4]

Encore: Anarchy

[1] First known Phish performance; Bobby Brown on harmonica.
[2] Jeff on vocals.
[3] Reggae jam.
[4] First known Phish performance.

Notes: This show was performed at the Last Day Party on UVM’s Redstone campus. It marked Page’s debut with the band, as he sat in during portions of the third set. In fact, Big Leg Emma was preceded by an announcement from Trey that “our friend Page, from Goddard, will sit in later.” Bring it On Home featured Bobby Brown on harmonica and Whipping Post featured Jeff on vocals. McGrupp was dedicated to Fishman. Makisupa featured a reggae jam. This show featured the only known Phish performances of Bring It On Home and The Other One.

without question, includes killer segue into dave's energy guide

of all the Mike's's's i've heard, this one has my vote, hands down.

June 10, 1995

Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Morrison, CO

Set 1: Makisupa Policeman -> Llama, Prince Caspian > It's Ice > Free, Rift, You Enjoy Myself -> Hold Your Head Up[1] > Lonesome Cowboy Bill > Hold Your Head Up, Suzy Greenberg

Set 2: Maze, Fee[2] > Uncle Pen, Mike's Song > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove, Amazing Grace, Sample in a Jar

Encore: A Day in the Life[3]

[1] Vocal jam.
[2] Trey sang verses through megaphone.
[3] Phish debut.

Notes: This show marked the first Phish performance of A Day in the Life. YEM segued into a HYHU vocal jam. Page teased Fanfare for the Common Man several times before Lonesome Cowboy Bill. Trey sang the verses of Fee through a megaphone.

...although i've definitely never heard that 1985 show, and i need to revisit 10/25/95.

That jam does go out there a bit, but remains a pretty steady groove the whole jam.
