The fact is, Suzy is likely mentally unstable and needs professional help. Sally on the other hand has no issues with being draged around through back alleys in between pound sessions in an effort to avoid being caught. Try to talk double talk catch yourself in lies, etc.

The evidence for Suzy: 12/14/95, 11/13/96, 9/14/00, 12/28/03, 6/17/04, and July '91.

The evidence for Sally: 1988, 12/30/97, 4/2/98, 7/23/03, 8/7/09.

if you limit it to 3.0:
Suzy 3.0: 7/31/09, 10/31/09, 12/31/09, 7/1/10, 8/7/10, 6/19/11, 6/30/12

Sally 3.0: 8/7/09, 6/22/10, 8/14/10, 6/4/11, 9/2/11, 7/6/12, 8/19/12

It's an interesting debate. Sally has been played only 61 times, 14 times in 3.0, and at least half of them are excellent. There have been more average versions of Suzy, simply because they've played it more often. But there are almost as many classic versions.

Suzy is one of my least favorite Phish songs. I just think it's kind of boring. So definitely Sally. And Sally is more prone to Jam which is what I really care about.

hmm. I'm gonna go with suzy on this one. I like sally, of course, but I have more history and nostalgia with suzy greenberg. Yeah, the chorus is kind of annoying, but the breakdowns between verses are great. And it's always a crowd pumper upper.

After more thinking on the matter I have furthered my personal case for Suzy. I've seen a couple of excellent Suzys. The show opener in Long Beach last summer set the tone for one of the most incredible shows I've ever seen and the version from Fest 8 with the horn section may be one of the best versions ever.
