Clearly having been made by unappreciative bacon-eaters or else they would have invited all the bacon lovers in the building. Rude.

mfhgreyboy Permalink
mfhgreyboy Good morning all. Sad news. One of our first pets (we got him at the same time as his littermate/sister, Emma), Finnegan, is going to be put to sleep this afternoon. He's suffering and it's time. He's been dealing with ear/ear infection issues for a few years now and we just haven't been able to get the damned thing cleared up. We tried multiple different medication regimens, multiple vets, he had surgery last year, etc., etc., etc. It's spread to the point where this weekend he started having walking/balance issues, he barely eats at all. We won't let him continue like that.

So my morning started by explaining to a 3 year old why one of her cats won't be here when she gets home from school. Brutal. Absolutely brutal.

It breaks my heart but it's the only thing left that we can do for him.

Hey @mmetch - thanks for the kind words about the kids this weekend? How's the little one?

Here you go, @johnnyd, you can borrow it

Thanks. In addition to being broken up about Finn, I AM concerned about how this will effect Emma. She's never been away from him. Ever.

I'm very happy to hear you and @captainpookie are enjoying it. The sleeping thing will improve. Just when you are getting accustomed to functioning in the zombie like state that every parent exists in for the first year and a half or so, things will start turning around. First the 11 pm feeding stops. Then the 3 am. And, eventually, you can get a full night of sleep.

Sorry to hear about the cat @mfhgreyboy, losing pets sucks, we had to put a cat down a month or two after moving in to the house. It was as though the change was the lynch pin and he just went so quickly, at least then we didn't have kids we had to explain to, but soon will be the day.

I remember the first time Maxwell slept through the night, I woke up at 7 am in a blind panic and rushed in to his room and there he was sleeping peacefully while I had a heart attack.

I can't recall this ever happening. Quinn was great - she's tough to get down, but once she actually got to sleep she stayed there (still does). Ian's amazing. He doesn't even want you to rock him to sleep, cuddle, anything like that. Once he's had some milk he just wants to be left alone in his crib to fall asleep by himself.

So, aside from the typical "I'm making noises because I'm not asleep yet", I can't say that we've had screaming/shouting issues. Especially not after they fell asleep.

I'm pretty sure each of these acts are fairly represented on archive. You can start with the "highest rated" or "most downloaded" and I'm sure that will be a great start. I could give you some suggestions for some of these if you'd rather not hunt and peck on your own. Let me know.
