If you had to isolate 5 mins of a Phish show....

I'd vote for minutes 9 through 14:23 of this Reba:

kipmat In the spirit of @ericwyman's blog post, I would pick 9:46-14:46 of the ALO Hood, essentially the last five minutes. Starting with Trey letting chords ring while Fishman goes berzerk with the beat, then Trey solos with a long sustained note in the middle, then the drone jam with the dynamics going up and down and Page playing the chords that would wind up later in Theme, then THE peak, and ending with the closing lyrics as Page brings everyone in with some Hammond organ action.

I do love the funk jams, too, but I don't know of many funk jams that demonstrate the emotion and the musicianship of the band to the degree that this performance does.
