Support a law protecting states' rights to legalize, regulate and tax marijuana like alcohol.LINK TO THE PETITION - If this is something you support than please click this link and sign the petition.
Citizens in Colorado and Washington overwhelmingly voted to legalize, regulate and tax marijuana in similar fashion as the more hazardous substance, alcohol, is already legalized, regulated and taxed. We request the president support a federal law requiring the federal government to protect - rather than undermine or overturn - these state laws and similar laws that other states pass in the future. Specifically, we request the president to support a pending congressional proposal that would amend the federal pre-emption section of the Controlled Substances Act (section 903) to exempt from the act any state provisions "relating to marijuana."
Thank you all.
um, you actually think congress is going to get anything done in the next 4 years? think again. the best the president can do is look the other way and instruct his appointees in the DoJ to do the same.Exactly, but he hasn't been doing this with medicinal MJ. He has been going after it in CA and other states. This needs to stop, and I think that is what this petition is about.

Tell me why this man in Montana can give tours to local law enforcement but is now serving LIFE in f***ing prison. Seems like there are only a few of us out there...75% of Americans think Medical Cannabis is needed but only 5% of those speak up?It is definitely a weird topic for many people. I was kind of unimpressed with many news anchors after the voting who would talk about the legalization in CO and WA but they would play so dumb as if they have never had any exposure to MJ in their lives. Everyone in this country has at least seen a stoner comedy or two, yet these people are pretending they don't know what a bong is, or making weird jokes about they "heard" it makes you eat. Do they really think they will lose their anchor job for knowing something about MJ?

Signed. I love me some maryjewanna. Thats how the kids spell it these days, right? Its maryjoanna
And, signing a petition denouncing the federal government's supremacy over states is akin to all of the idiots signing petitions to leave the union after the presidential election...this shit's been settled already.
Saying that the people in these states overwhelmingly support this so the federal government should just roll over is the same argument used to support voter suppression and Jim Crow in the south. Is it the same? Obviously not, but when representatives at the national level think it should be legalized, it will be (perhaps the petition will influence them somehow).
So, if you want to participate in democracy, more power to you. good luck.
But the charade about it being for tax revenue is a joke and an excuse.Disagree. There is a ton of money flowing do to MJ. Should it go to crime and evil bastards or to our government which IS severely in debt and needs to figure out a solution before we are further in the hole. And to suggest they stop spending? Duh, but they can't and they won't.

Not saying there isn't money to made...I just don't think that's a legit reason why anything should be legal.
@Jimmymac03 said:Ah. Also, IMO, no legit reason this plant should be illegal. However, that is a different conversation all together.@ckess22 said:But the charade about it being for tax revenue is a joke and an excuse.Disagree. There is a ton of money flowing do to MJ.
