TheDeputy Yeah, the Albany 97 show. And that seemed like an impromptu, unplanned thing. Fish apparently drums with the guy's band. They played without a drummer that night. I think the house lights were still on, if I remember correctly.

Yes, Albany 97 is correct. Little known fact: Dane Cook's comedy troop opened for Phish at the Boston Garden on 10/30/92, when he was like 16. He talks about it on Letterman I think.

June 11, 2000

Hibiya Outdoor Theatre, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan

Set 1: First Tube > Punch You In the Eye, Horn > Ginseng Sullivan, Stash, Dirt, Possum[1] > It's Ice, Farmhouse

Set 2: Birds of a Feather, Free > Beauty of My Dreams, Bug > David Bowie, When the Circus Comes, Back on the Train > Harry Hood

Encore: Character Zero

[1] Stash teases.

Notes: Possum included Stash teases. A large rainbow formed over the theatre and cleared during the encore. The opening act was Big Frog.

Score: 3

I wouldn't mind having an opener, but the venue would still be near empty during their performance.

flatbottomfrank I like having an opener especially if they are good, or someone ive never heard! And I wish all their festivals had a couple other acts to fill time. Its the reason why Ive never gone except Coventry and don't get me started on that.

Dino_Spumoni Guess Dane Cook was as funny then as he is now
This show was a New Music concert sponsored by WBCN in Boston and included The Levelers, Material Issue, Michael Penn, The Spin Doctors, and a comedy troupe that was booed off stage before their time expired as the impatient crowd clamored for Phish.

I was at that gig, however, i missed the jokes.

I saw a few opening bands for Phish....Chucklehead, Widespread Panic.

I also saw Phish open for Santana and Blues Traveler.

I also think Phish opened for the Violent Femmes in 92, but yy the end of 92 Phish wasn't on the bill with any other acts.
