Second that, best show to ever air IMO and it has ruined evey other cop or investigation show that I have tries to watch since... They just don't live up to the greatness of the wire. Season two is my favorite love the sobodkas
Incredible show, every person I have convinced to watch it also thinks its the greatest show. Never heard a single complaint only the highest praise from everyone I've ever talked to that watched it.
"You come at the king, you best not miss"
EDIT: I think you will also find that the .net community thinks very highly of The Wire and a LOT of members love that show. I feel like the majority of people (not .net) have NOT seen it, so it's pretty much .net has a great taste in music and television.
Totally agree. Love Treme too, but not on the same level.
The scene at the chess board in season one is some very high quality stuff also the McDonald's analogy in season one ... Gota be two of my favorite scenes. Also when deangelo is screaming where's Wallace when he's in prison is in forgettable
Edit : unforgettable, god damn auto correct

I'm not one for claiming "best evers," but its probably my favorite ever. Definitely near the top, if not right there.
@the_Crested_Hogchoker - so what's the money line on the East-West basketball game this year?
sign'd.I don't know, but those AAU child-pimps are becoming a source of concern for a lot of people.

Honestly it's a toss up between two and four for me.. Don't know why I enjoyed two so much I feel like it doesn't get a lot of love

@Gordeaux said:i think one of the main reasons is because it went from the gritty streets to the docks and this threw people off. i agree though. I absolutely loved the character of Frank Sobotka. a true tragic hero@pjstarr86 said:@dave25 said:agreed. the consensus is the 4th season is the best. for me personally, I like the 1st the best.Second that, best show to ever air IMO and it has ruined evey other cop or investigation show that I have tries to watch since... Seasons 1 and 3 were best imo. 2 & 4 were very educational, and 5 kind of sucked, but what can you do.
Yes! Some of my fav moments:
S1: The f**k scene with Bunk and McNulty. Priceless
S2: Best boob shot ever on TV. Seriously.
I live in Baltimore, in fact the scene in S3 when Chris and Snoop are teaching the youngins how to shoot is literally in my front yard. And the dogs in the scene belong to my neighbors!

Tony Soprano Reincarnate is bearable, but his kid and nephew are flat out hard to watch. Horrible casting and acting on those two, imo. I'd have a hard time choosing between 1, 3, and 4 as a favorite, I think.
1. Omar
2. Bubbles
3. Hard to pick a third but Boadie wins for his spitting ability.
Honorable Mentions: McNutty, Stringer, Avon, Slim, We-Bay, Senator Davis, Keema (Season 1 especially), Marlo, Bunk and Bunny Colvin.
I think 2 is by far the worst season.I would have to disagree with you on saying season two is the worst. It held me a lot more than four or five. I think the nephew, Nicky, was a great acting job. My cousin lives in that section of Bulletmore, Muderland and said it is pretty accurate. She said most bars are trash that she thinks are just fronts.

But we heavily relied on the English-to-Wire Translator feature (aka the english subtitle option on the dvds) to figure out what the hell they were all saying, especially the first bunch of episodes before we got used to the dialect and accents.

I dont know about the episode guides, sometimes that might reveal stuff you'd rather figure out.

Top 3 characters:I'll add Snoop, Marlo Stanfield and Chris Partlow's (the gang leader and hitman/enforcer's) helper in Seasons 3 - 5. Snoop was a Baltimore street person recruited to play her real life role. According to her memoir, "Grace After Midnight", the bit about picking up her first gun as a third grader when a hitman slid it across the gutter and winked at her was drawn from her real life. She knew at that age having a gun was important.
