These hippies come With guitar and drum
On tour as it is in Gamehendge.
Give this day our daily toke
And forgive us our WSP stats
As we forgive spreadheads that come to our Phish shows.
Lead us not into the Biscuits
And deliver us from Umphrey's
Oppan Gangaham Style!!!
Hoard those Ho-hos, people.
My morning was made as soon as I turned on the television and saw that PSY performed Gangham Style with a guest appearance by MC Hammer at the American Music Awards last night. And now, I pass this joy onto you, .net...
Just when I got it out of my head, it hops right back in and returns to munching on my brain.
Gm @ivy_light. Mr slice recently got a Samsung galaxy note and hasnt set all of the settings properly, so he keeps getting news alerts at 6am. He has it set to the law and order noise, so I keep getting woken up by that stupid bom bom noiseHey @KimboSlice! I suggest you start keeping a sledgehammer next to the bed.
Morning pplz, sitting in the woods hopefully a deer comes by!Doe season? Go get 'em, tiger. Then make some jerky and send it to me
Almost my birthday. This even usually overshadows thanksgiving for me because I really don't enjoy thanksgiving that much. not to say i'm not thankful but the sitting around my family with a bunch of food isn't exactly my idea of fun.
Good luck @Purple_Humpback_Whale. The guy I'm cutting wood with got his deer yesterday morning. Freezer being filled, he could now direct his attention back to the basic necessity of heat.
How was Scuba, @Axilla_Part_2_Not_Part_1?
That was probably the most chill weekend in recent Dubya history. Nothing but hanging around the house doing chore type stuff. No social engagements to speak of. It was glorious
I'd like to think that someday I'll have a sauna in my house...its not that unrealistic...
Anyway...besides all of that:
Good Morning .net!
Short week... Woot!
<3
My son turned 8 years old yesterday, like WHOA. My family is small too. Lots of people died, and some skipped town and the country never to return. Holidays make me sad, but I like mashed potatoes.
Yeah, my issue is my moms side isn't on good terms with my mom so being around them and having to answer questions about what shes up to sucks because truth be told theres a lot of unresolved conflict between me and her (she thought i was gay and doing coke for a long time, may still believe it) And my dads side isn't bad except his brother never seems to want to be around during the holidays. So yeah I'd rather be sleeping or something. Plus next year thanksgiving falls on the 28th of november...I turn 21 that day.
and also heres this song thats been stuck in my head
I always have trouble readjusting to East Coast time even though I lived most of my life here, plus I've been up late two of the last 3 days, so I'm pretty wiped. Thanksgiving week should be pretty mellow, at least. And my family will be treating me like a rock star, so that's a bonus.
Here's something I was linked to via Twitter - a mashup of the new Rihanna single "Diamonds" and M83's already-legendary "Midnight City". Either it will confirm that you could throw anything over "Midnight City" and it will sound amazing, or it will totally stretch your patience. Enjoy!

G'day Pholks! Nuthin new to report from these parts other than the sun is shining and short (3 day) work week! Hot Tuna tix arrived Saturday so things are starting to look up!How is your place and 'hood? I know you've been reporting from LI, but did your home get hit, or are you ok?
/but then there's the turkey
I had a chance to see (and meet) The Revivalists last night. I also had the pleasure of drinking some whiskey with Jen Hartswick. New Haven was the place to be last night!
Sign'd on the Turkey Day being the best... My brother and his fam are coming to LI for the celebration. My parents have no first floor to their home, but got their power back this weekend. Should be interesting!
@gladtobeglenn -- Where's the Hot Tuna show??
Anyone have experience making kombucha? It seems my thread only garnered one response hitch pointed me in the direction f google. Which I've already done....
Thanksgiving is probably my favorite major holiday overall.Me too! There's no strings attached; you just have to show up and enjoy the food and company.
I love Thanksgiving, but I'm pretty nervous about this one. I've met Ivy's mom and dad already, but not the rest of the family.
The latest Thanksgiving can fall is the 28th, so it can never be actually on my birthday.
Morning all.I had work on Saturday at six, so I only was there until 2 or so. Linda missed but whatever. The place was getting rowdy just as we left.
Good luck @Purple_Humpback_Whale. The guy I'm cutting wood with got his deer yesterday morning. Freezer being filled, he could now direct his attention back to the basic necessity of heat.

I have meh feelings on Thanksgiving. It just reminds me of the torture that was thanksgiving break from college. I was always in a bad spot emotionally because of school and girls that I didn't want to be around my family
The video I watched was horrifying to me as a homebrewer since the lady in the video used no sanitation at all. I think you'd want to sanitize everything you use with Mr. Slice's Starsan or whatever he uses in brewing.
Brew up a little less than a quart of black tea and cool it completely. Add a sweetener of your choice. In the vid I watched the lady used plain white sugar. I'd experiment with belgian candi sugar, Agave Syrup, Honey, etc.
Pour your sweetened, cooled, black tea into a sanitized quart mason jar and drop your scoby in. Cover the mason jar with some layered cheesecloth held tight with a rubberband.
Forget about it for a week or two. Pour off the carbonated, fermented kombucha and enjoy. Add more sweetened tea to the jar / scoby.
Eventually you'll get another scoby that forms that you can give to a friend, just like how you got one.
@jaydubya thanks thats the basic info i have. I had a few questions that i wanted to ask someone before i kill the scoby that i received. The best way to keep it alive is to get it some sugar quickly. I don't think you can really screw it up, other than via sub par sanitation.
Sanitize everything!
GM.Net long time no post..Been too busy at work to stay as active as I would like but somebody has to make sure these guys don't try and burn our building down again. Here is a little something we just got done building.
Which generally means I don't have to do shit other than show up and eat. THAT is what I call a win.
Dylan tonight. Pretty psyched.
@jaydubya any idea on conversion from white sugar to honey? how much do you think i should use?The standard recipe I read on wikipedia says one cup of sugar per gallon of tea. I'd use the same ratio with honey.
I'd just play around with the ratios and sugars to see what you like. Experiment!

With every year that passes, Thanksgiving moves up in the ranking of holidays and Christmas moves down (formerly #1, now pretty much at the bottom of the list). But I'd still take an impromptu family gathering with no particular purpose other than enjoying each other's company over any of the official holidays.
Morning everyone. You're gonna do fine. Just do a lot of nodding and smiling.

usually Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays but this year its looking like its gonna take a drastic hit in the rankings. the fam usually all goes to my dads parents in TN but this year a ton of people are backing out. Not only are they deciding not to go to the usual designated place but it seems like everyone of them is also trying to make their own plans and keep sending me invites to various houses and states. My thought is, dont they remember that we are all suppose to be in one place? I'm considering just staying at home and being by myself as a kind of weak protest to all the splitting up. I wonder if the Chinese buffet down the road will be open?

I am actually looking forward to being alone, with some Chinese food and "Its a Wonderful Life" and a fire in my new fireplace
This is NOT groundbreaking, but as I've been listening to the shows I've attended in order I had the great fortune, nay, PRIVILEGE, of re-listening to Day 2 Set II of the Went again yesterday. Unbelievable. Pretty much a perfect set of music. That first set is a awesome as well. They should have just gone home after Hood.

I'd put SBIX Day 1, Set II and Day 3, Set I on about the same level.

It all comes apart, but don't give them any ideas...they just might want us to build the house around it.
