missblue75 I'm with you @spencur6, my family is very small. Dad(and wife), brother(and wife), and me. There is contention all over that combination of people. They all hate each other...except me. The only one that hates me...an I mean serious loathing, is my dad's wife. I think it's funny that after over 29 years, she is jealous of my relationship with my dad. Sad funny, what a shitty way to live. Holidays suck like that in my family. I'd rather... lots of things...

Yeah, my issue is my moms side isn't on good terms with my mom so being around them and having to answer questions about what shes up to sucks because truth be told theres a lot of unresolved conflict between me and her (she thought i was gay and doing coke for a long time, may still believe it) And my dads side isn't bad except his brother never seems to want to be around during the holidays. So yeah I'd rather be sleeping or something. Plus next year thanksgiving falls on the 28th of november...I turn 21 that day.

and also heres this song thats been stuck in my head

n00b100 GM.net. @ivy_light, thanks for the video - it's kind of cool seeing Hammer out there like it's 1991 all over again.

I always have trouble readjusting to East Coast time even though I lived most of my life here, plus I've been up late two of the last 3 days, so I'm pretty wiped. Thanksgiving week should be pretty mellow, at least. And my family will be treating me like a rock star, so that's a bonus. ;)

Here's something I was linked to via Twitter - a mashup of the new Rihanna single "Diamonds" and M83's already-legendary "Midnight City". Either it will confirm that you could throw anything over "Midnight City" and it will sound amazing, or it will totally stretch your patience. Enjoy!

I had work on Saturday at six, so I only was there until 2 or so. Linda missed but whatever. The place was getting rowdy just as we left.

JayDubya Permalink
JayDubya @KimboSlice I have no idea what Kombucha or a scoby are but I just did a little research. It seems it's just black tea, with some sugar added, and then fermented via the Symbiotic Colony of Bacteria and Yeast (SCOBY)

The video I watched was horrifying to me as a homebrewer since the lady in the video used no sanitation at all. I think you'd want to sanitize everything you use with Mr. Slice's Starsan or whatever he uses in brewing.

Brew up a little less than a quart of black tea and cool it completely. Add a sweetener of your choice. In the vid I watched the lady used plain white sugar. I'd experiment with belgian candi sugar, Agave Syrup, Honey, etc.

Pour your sweetened, cooled, black tea into a sanitized quart mason jar and drop your scoby in. Cover the mason jar with some layered cheesecloth held tight with a rubberband.

Forget about it for a week or two. Pour off the carbonated, fermented kombucha and enjoy. Add more sweetened tea to the jar / scoby.

Eventually you'll get another scoby that forms that you can give to a friend, just like how you got one.

The best way to keep it alive is to get it some sugar quickly. I don't think you can really screw it up, other than via sub par sanitation.

Sanitize everything!

Which generally means I don't have to do shit other than show up and eat. THAT is what I call a win.

The standard recipe I read on wikipedia says one cup of sugar per gallon of tea. I'd use the same ratio with honey.

I'd just play around with the ratios and sugars to see what you like. Experiment!

With every year that passes, Thanksgiving moves up in the ranking of holidays and Christmas moves down (formerly #1, now pretty much at the bottom of the list). usually Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays but this year its looking like its gonna take a drastic hit in the rankings. the fam usually all goes to my dads parents in TN but this year a ton of people are backing out. Not only are they deciding not to go to the usual designated place but it seems like everyone of them is also trying to make their own plans and keep sending me invites to various houses and states. My thought is, dont they remember that we are all suppose to be in one place? I'm considering just staying at home and being by myself as a kind of weak protest to all the splitting up. I wonder if the Chinese buffet down the road will be open?
