Thanks buddy. I am well versed in the ways of google. Was hoping there was a real person I talk too rather than just following a recipe.

atomx you can message me if you have any questions, ive been brewing for about 6 months.

my standard recipe is 1 gallon of water, 2.5 cups sugar, 2 iced tea bags, 8 flavored tea bags

just brew tea with sugar and let cool to room temperature, then add to your scoby
let sit for 5-7 days and then harvest, after each brew cycle save about 10% of your kombucha to add to the next batch, this will jump start it and make sure nothing bad brews, after a couple cycles your scoby will get thick and you can peel the top layer off and use that for a new batch.
i havent really done much research but the kid who gave me my scoby told me how to brew and its worked fine for me so far. good luck. like i said message me if you have any questions, i just turned on a good friend TODAY with a starter brew ;)

EDIT: forgot to mention that your brew jar should be covered with a cloth and rubber band for a lid so that it can breathe and left in the DARK
