I also cringe when I hear the words Phish and Bieber in the same sentence, not because I hate Bieber--I've never heard a single song of his and am willing to grant his talent--but because I am enough of a snob to be uncomfortable with Phish's occasional flirtations with teen pop. It's hard for me to imagine the band that could do the Prague or Copenhagen Ghost could exist in the same universe as a Justin Bieber. That said, I also quite liked this article, and found Kanter to be refreshingly honest and open, about Phish and Bieber. He seems like a decent type and I'm glad he has both a passion for Phish and a more than decent gig with Bieber. Still, it is a bit weird to have Posh Spice vouching for Kuroda....

He just said that phish and beiber built there audience in the same exact way. If that's isn't horse shit I dunno what is. Beiber was a YouTube sensation and blew up in 1 year. Phish took 10 years to get the Phan base that they have. I have no problem with this whole beiber phish craze but come on. Trey worked 100 times harder than biebs and wasnt driving a Lamborghini at age 18.

I liked that interview. Pretty candid. I think it's funny that Kanter is friends with Mike and tours with one of the biggest stars in the world but he still gets wierd when he runs into Trey.

Just wait for all those Bieberboppers to turn 16 and smoke pot and start going to Phish shows. It will turn Phish truly into the Dead scene of late 80's early 90's. Stadiums, sold out with tons of highschool aged kids getting dropped off by parents. Not looking forward to that!
