It's not Black Friday until...

spacecoyote Permalink
spacecoyote ...it starts on Thursday.

Seriously, what the motherfuk is wrong with these stores? The corporate bozos get a nice long weekend with their families, payed for by the sweat of the worker and the dollar of the idiot-consumer. But that's not enough, they needed to make a few more dollars before the other guy by taking people away from their families on Thanxgiving.

These corporate bozos got to spend payed time off at home or wherever, while "the worker" went out and made them more money.

Fuk you Bozo, fuk you in your stupid little ass.

its all about supply and demand....customers want to shop 24-7-365 and retailers have the supply. its really just simple economics...

Drgordy My wife works retail as a store manager for one of the major clothing corporations. They had to open at 9pm on Thanksgiving. She said he store brought in about $4000 during those extra 3 hours. We didn't have a thanksgiving dinner because she had to sleep all day.

I find it absolutely disgusting that corporations open their stores even at midnight. Thanksgiving and Black Friday have turned into one gluttonous holiday. Where Americans stuff their faces and bellies with more food than a homeless man sees in a year and then goes out and buys a bunch of cheap Chinese made crap for their bratty children.

At least in some states they have blue laws that prevent stores from opening before midnight.

I get that it is just as much fault of the consumer as the big wigs but that doesn't make it okay. This shit is out of hand. The people out there shopping on thanksgiving really need to reevaluate their lives. What is more important. Getting a cheap Xbox or spending quality time with the person you would be buying it for?

There are plenty of people that have to work on holidays..it's the nature of the beast sometimes..I'm sure a few of those people are happy just to have a job, so they can provide for their families..and if we're talking about working in retail..some people work on commission..so this is like their day to bank it..

Totally agree!
With @joonze also!

These retail workers in some cases are able to get paid time and a half for working "off" and "holiday" hours. And ya in this time of mass unemployment what wrong with Consumer spending adn employees working? isnt that what the answer to all this mess is supposed to be?

I know we have different view on this and several other things, and that cool...
but i think im not the narrow minded one on this topic.

Everyone is complaining about no jobs and a poor economy in this country. But when there is work, regardless if it's your holiday or their holiday....they are gaining wages to pay for things they may need.

Not everyone wants to sit at home after a day of eating and sitting around the house....not everyone has a family and would like to get out. I personally dont do the black friday shopping gig just because i think its insane, but my personal thought on it doesnt make it wrong....

There was a time in my life when all store were closed on Sundays...there are some states that still dont sell alcohol on Sundays....Me personally, I think thats crazy....We are a country of many cultures and religions and dont follow the same holidays thanks to the freedom of religion within the constitution...

Get over it...if you dont like it, dont go shopping....

spacecoyote The workers at stores like Walmart, Target, Sears, that just got done working overnight on Thanxgiving are for the most part seasonal help with temporary or part-time status who get forced to work these long shifts with no extra pay or incentive. Do most or all of them need every extra dollar they can honestly make? Yes. Would it be a better investment in humanity, for the people who decide to open these stores in the middle of the night on a holiday, to change their greedy tactic? Yes. Would it be wiser if consumers stopped being led by the carrot long enough to look behind them and see where the stick actually leads? Also, yes.
