baking

missblue75 Permalink
missblue75 Has anyone ever baked with coconut flour? It smells incredible; wondering about the texture and the flavor in cookies. Looking to enhance some oatmeal scotchies, but can't afford to wreck them.
While we're at it, if someone were to hypothetically infuse butter in a crockpot, after taking out all the solids, does anyone ever do anything with the muddy water that is left? It has to be good for something. I hate wasting stuff...hypothetically.

DanceTheJig728 You'll want to cut down how much sugar you put in the cookies because the Coconut flour will add a lot of natural sweetness, and apparently with coconut flour your supposed to use 10-30% of the amount of normal flour and sub it for the coconut. So maybe 20% coconut flour and 80% all-purpose. Unless of course the recipe your're using calls for coconut flour, in which case it should already be adjusted!

missblue75 no recipe, just going to substitute. I think I'm going to try a half batch with the coconut flour.
Thanks for the tip, @DanceTheJig728

Good idea, and no problemooo. Baking can get pretty frustrating, no room for error at all.

Yikes... the thought of that makes my throat close up... I made tea with it one time and really almost puked. Might be that it just looks like mud, might be that it tastes like buttery dirt water. But the cookies are amazing! Coconut flour!
